I had a nibble on one tonight, but I had a bad worm/hook combination and wasn't getting the fish to commit. The small Largemouth Bass I caught tonight was with an artificial lure. Even though the fish was tiny like in the pictures above, I'm just glad I was able to catch a fish with something besides a real night crawler.

You should try Standley (spell?) lake! So far I never left it empty handed.

Oh, btw try this kinda rig for bass http://www.bassfishingusa.com/Rigging/rigging1.html
It worked for me...

That's actually exactly what I caught one with, only I used an Atomic Fry instead of a long worm. My problem with the worms tonight was that the hook I was using was way to small and couldn't hold all the worm. The fish would nibble at the tail end of the worm and when I'd try to set the hook, I'd just yank the worm right out of their mouth. Too much worm, too little hook.

Fishing trip to Loch Lomand on Sunday was a bust. I tried casting with a lure for a while with one rod while the other had the 'ole worm and bobber. Then I went over to the south side and found some rocks that just went straight down about 10-20 ft and tried using a Crappie jig. I used the floating bobber where you run the line through it and it keeps your line vertical so you can bob the jig up and down off the bottom. I also tossed in a trout rig with the other rod and fished from the bottom since the weather has been so hot lately. Never got a single bite on anything. The only people that ended up catching anything at all did so with fly fishing.
Going to 11 mile again next weekend for some night fishing off the shore, and some trolling off a boat in the morning. I guess the trout have been biting like crazy the last three weeks or so, and I'm trying to get down there before they stop because of the heat.

Hey guys, what kinda rig do you use for catfish fishing? Thanks in advance!

Also interested in catfish techniques.

I've had great success with inflated worms on a sinker.
Sardines are awesome but illegal in some states.

Is that where you fill the worms with air using a syringe so they float? Is that so you can fish off the bottom but still get up out of the weeds?
