What you want to do then, is find a crown vic....and put an older mustang body on that chassis. Keep all the wiring and dash stuff, and fab it into the old mustang body.

I suggest a Volvo with a 5.0 dropped into it. RWD and the Ford 5.0 drops right in.

All you need is lots of expendable cash, a shitload of free time, a great place to work on it with lots of tools and a lift, and get started.

Oh, and lots of wiring diagnostic, and fabrication skills along with the plasma cutter, welders, and torch will be quite helpful as well.

No...if you have time, you can get it done before you're crappin in your pants at the dinner table. You did mention reliability with the old look. That's the way to do it.
