I only used one behind my last 5th wheel to help reduce sway on my boat, but it's a given that they're needed for just about every RV due to the tall sides (sail).
As with everything else, there's a price/performance cost benefit to the different options.
You can haul a +30' bumper pull TT around with a Lincoln Town Car if you spend $$$ on a Hensley Arrow (WD+sway control).
Blue Ox and the Equalizer line are both good stuff and very popular with the RV crowd because they incorporate ant-sway into the WD setup.
The add on anti-sway friction bars are a PITA IMHO.
