In competitions I have participated,, usually less than 25yds with pistol. Don't remember the distance on rifle, not much more than 25yds I think.
Nothing like spending Sunday nite remodeling Starbucks stores.
Small engine carbs and lines get gummed up with varnish if not treated or drained. Ethanol is really bad on the small engine parts too. Using starting fluid and carb cleaner as a starting fluid isn't good for them as it leans out the fuel mixture too much and you risk galling the piston/rings/bore.
Sometimes a little seafoam in the fuel mixture (careful with 2-strokes, it leans out the fuel) can get you going but it's best to get a fuel line kit and replace all the lines and clean the carb well.
Another quick fix if it has a float bowl on the carb is to remove the bowl and clean it out and put in fresh fuel. That will sometimes get it running.
I don't have it currently, but I know where to turn when I'm ready to get that sucker running again.
Trimmed the neighbors tree a bit today. I'm f'ing beat!
I was able to get the dead branch on the right, which I'm very proud of, but wasn't able to get the one on the left so I'm a little bummed.

He had some super big stuff that I'm glad I, and another guy, were able to get out of the tree though.

Neighbor was helping me clean up my branches and he was like, "we should just burn this small dead stuff." So we did. Probably saved me a bunch of room in the trash.
