Negan's gang was huge, enough that killing even a patrol the size of the lil motorcycle gang in the beginning of the episode definitely would sting, but in no way would put serious hurt on Negan's operations. It would just super piss him off and guarantee some terrible retributions. That's where I think the story's going to arc. (and readers of the CB know what happens to one of the main characters....)
Ahh, I was going off of a quote from one of the directors saying they were glad they would never have to explain how to pronounce "Negan" again.
