A friend of mine has a 9 year old American Eskimo. Very playful dog, still has tons of energy, and she gets along with my Shepherd mix just fine. Can't speak to how good they are with kids.
Lots of room and exercise. If not, almost everything in your house has become a chew toy.
Male, or female? The females are easier to work with, they came from a pack mentality. YOU ARE THE ALPHA, anything less will be unacceptable.
Up side, cuddly little buggers, fairly loyal, especially with kids they bond to. Like any "pet" they need some adjustment time.
If they are anything like Husky's, at every chance they get they WILL run away. You'll find them at the park hours later.
I have a 12 yo male. He has tons of energy and is way to smart for his own good. Very trainable, but only listens when he feels like it. Runs off any chance he gets, but always comes back. He doesn't fetch or play really, and had to pull most of his teeth due to him not chewing on anything. Barks at everything and nothing. Nice enough dog, but acts like a cat.
I have only known two well but i will change the "they have energy" statements to they are hyper. But not aggressive even with playing with hard. Also they love to be the center of you attention.
They shed like crazy. We have an Eskimo/Rat Terrier mix and he is a GREAT dog. Barks like crazy though. But very loyal.
I don't know anything about them, assumed they were realted. Looks like I had a decent assessment anyway.
Good dogs, fairly smart. They need to be excercised or they chew, dig and/or howl. Ours was a digger when she got bored, holes all over the lawn. Smart though, we
just let her have the run of the yard, she always stayed home. She'd occasionaly make a trip to a neighbor who gave her treats but she's always come home. She also loved to eat flowers and picked strawberries off the plants and ate them. She went deaf later in life but was healthy all her life. I wouldn't heasitiate to get another one.
