We have a $60,000+ Flir camera at my work and it cant really do anything past 30 ft accurately. I suppose it would show you a warm spot out there a little ways in the snow, but aside from that I doubt that it would be real useful for anything but its designed purpose. That thing is ridiculously accurate though, and can tell even the slightest delta T on anything within range.

Ya know just the other day I was thinking about how much easier my life would be if I had thermal imaging capabilities.
Be easy to spot holding your phone out to look around. Just wait until Google Glass has that capability.
