Gunsmoke...
Boy was anyone listening to Tom Martino today? There was a lady that bought a pistol from Rich Wyatt (Gunsmoke) then couldn't pass the CBI. Because he has his customers buy the firearm before the CBI is ran. He wouldn't give her the moeny back. He offered to sell the pistol for her for a 20% commission. This went on for about and hour back and fourth. Until him and Tom about went to blows calling each other names, accusing each other of various stuff.
I could see where he had a point. That is how he wants to do buisness. But Man what a "ishy" way of doing buisness. i was honestly thinking of taking his CCW class I hear about on the radio but after this I don't think I'll ever be stepping in his store.
Any thoughts???

Yeah I heard it. After hearing him I would not buy a gun from him. He has a F--- the CBI attitude wich I understand but charging 20% for not being able to buy a gun is a litle crazy. I can see it if it was a special order or something he couldnt easly resell. Why he rings up the gun and charges the customer before he does the background check is a business practice I have never seen in any other shop.

They had a CBI spokesperson on yesterday to "clarify" and he said it was BS, that no one does that and that the law does not require the transfer of money before the BC is done.
It looked to me like Wyatt was taking advantage of folks, he as much said so when he said he does not need customers that can not pass the background, but then said that BI always screws them up.
I will not be going there.

Well, I know where NOT to shopp.

I caught the last part of that driving in my truck, two A-holes calling each other A-holes! I had to laugh![Tooth]

In the end it would seem he did the right thing but more work than it should be. If you want to chanrge a 20% fee to run a check say so up front and make the charge clear.
I don't need more hotheads in my life, I will pass.

I've been telling people on here and my other board that Gunsmoke is easily the WORST gunshop in town. Why anyone would take their ccw class is beyond me. They charge $145 for a lecture only class with no range time. You can go to Green Mountain Guns (and almost any other place in the state) and take a class with both lecture and range time for $150.
I was asking them if they had any junk pistols, and the guy actually said this to me. "Not really, I might buy a gun off someone for $400, then turn around and sell it for $900." What the fuck? Have any of you guys actually been in there? I went in asking for a shoulder stock for a Remington 870. They pointed me in the right direction and I dug through their pile. They had several, USED, synthetic black forend and shoulder stock combos for sale for $89! You can get that brand new from the factory for $60! That place is ridiculous.

I recently graduated from CST and was told to go there for employment. NO way! I'd rather sell coffee with my wife than gunsmith for that place. It's not a "privilege" to shop in that store as he/they make it seem. Tell your buddies and family to go else where for their needs. Tell you enemies to go to that place to get it rough and dry![Kick1]

Just listened to the interviews - thanks for those links, Dave.
Wyatt's quite the shady "businessman", IMO. He used a lot of buzzwords and painted himself as the victim by saying things like "Gunsmoke's the big dog in town..." and "CBI is just out to get me because I've criticized them before..." blah, blah, blah. He just oozes with BS. I'm going to make sure all my family and friends know about this guy and to stay away.
