UPS trucks in Colorado generally have fleet plates. Some other states have dedicated UPS tags.
They don't want them to go postal?
[facepalm]
Actually, I have not the slightest idea what laws govern plates on USPS vehicles. And I am at work so I don't have time to look.
probably the same reason the state fleet of cars doesn't have renewal tags either. (stickers) and they say GVT too. The GVT charging itself for plates..
I consider it saving us taxpayers money. Between them and Amtrak they haven't operated in the Black in how long?
Yeah, so they have numbers posted on all their vehicles. So the only real reason I would want .gov vehicles to have plates is a readily available unique identifier just in case they are used in a crime. But Plates can be removed. Decal Vehicle ID numbers on the paint job is a little harder.
So not having plates saves us money. The .gov is not going to pay its own DMV fees to register its own fleet of vehicles. The reason why the military's vehicles had plates when I was in is the plates correspond to the GSA contract the vehicle was bought and maintained on.
