It’s kind of like those old sci-fi movies where technology kills off the human race and takes over the planet. We’re only in the first stages of the takeover.
My phone has a flashlight and a FM radio. I pay little attention to it. Unless it rings.
I see the stupidity in my daily commute. What we need are people that can concentrate on anything for more than 2 seconds. We need people that don't have a Pavlovian response every time their phone beeps or buzzes...or checks it for signs of life because it hasn't done anything for 20 seconds. Nothing is that important. Leave the phone in your purse or pocket and drive. Your digital world will still be there when you arrive at your destination.

Its a huge problem. I commute downtown most days and get to see quite a bit. People running into the back of other cars, swerving, going the speed limit in the left lane of I-25 (why), and dangerous driving in general. When I get a chance to look at the person in question, they are either 1) texting, or 2) talking on their phone. Sad.
