Howdy all,
I have an old chop saw with a broken fence. Need it welded back together. Guessing it's aluminum (non magnetic). Preferably someone around western Denver but not too picky.

Unfortunately, I don't think that you have a good candidate for a welding repair. Many consumer product aluminum alloy castings like that are not weldable. Some are, but it will have to be extensively cleaned before the weld is even attempted. This means that you might be out $50 just to find out it melted apart, not together. Or it sticks together, but there is no strength in the bond from weld to base material.
My gut feel is to recommend that a new fence should be found or made if you are attached to the saw. Maybe use two sections of angle iron?
As mentioned above, likely not an easy repair. My guess is it isn't even aluminum but probably some kind of "pot metal" of some sort. You might get lucky with some JB weld or you might have to get creative and fabricate something to replace it.
Afraid of theses answers. It’s a Delta saw that still is in good condition. I doubt glueing it will be a good solution.
I’d glue the pieces together with a thin layer of JB Weld then roughen the exposed surfaces and fill the cavities with JB Weld.

It's probably cheaper to locate a used chop saw on CL, than risk that repaired piece coming apart while in use.
Order the replacement part from the manufacturer. Your fingers are worth far more in actual value.
In a perfect world... This is a 20+ year old saw. Google Fu has nothing. Sadly, the saw is in great shape but no parts are available.Quote:
