It's time for a replacement for our builder grade door.
Has anyone installed/purchased a decent quality insulated garage door?
It is a standard tw0-car wide setup.
Thanks!

Do a forum search, there Jawas a thread fairly recently on this topic.
Maybe get some ideas there.
Your budget will determine the level of insulated door you buy. One with a good (installation, labor & parts) warranty is the way to go.
The 16x 8 door i have was not an insulated one when it was installed. Last year i insulated it myself, then had a door co come out to readjust it. Since the weight increase by about 50 lbs. Based on the original quote for an insulated door. vs. Me doing it plus paying for it to be readjusted.. I saved maybe $200 - 300. However at the time i did the shop, that extra $$ was not in the budget.
I was looking to have them do it all. I added an outlet up high on the wall so that I could use one of the shaft drive openers.
I'll see if I can find that previous thread...
If you get an insulated garage door, consider an overhead fan in the garage to go with it.
Is there a local garage door guy? Looking for doors and openers myself.
Just went through this myself. Best bid from a reliable company was ankmar garage door company in COS, DEN and Fort Collins. Had a local contractor for about $250 less but kept giving me the run around for 3 months. Ankmar has been around a long time and does quite a few original equipment installs. One new steel 16x7 and one new steel 8x7 insulated garage doors installed with wind force stiffeners and bracing added, old doors removed ran approx $2750. 2.5 week lead time.
Got mine from Don's Garage Doors.
16x7 steel door
2" thick insulated 3 layer sandwich panel
10.25 r value.
new tracks, new torsion spring, existing opener
