Anybody sold any brass cases lately for scrap? I'm wondering what the current price is for scrap brass, and who's the best place to sell it to without getting boned. Got a bucket I can barely pick up, figure it's time to empty it.
That, and I'm getting a hardon for one of those stainless steel pin wet tumbling kits, so I'm thinking of selling the scrap brass to apply to buying that kit.
I would think you could get about 2 per pound, could probably double that by selling it as reloading brass, even more if you separate it by cal and sell it that way.
If they take it, they will give bottom dollar for it.. Their "dirty brass" price
Many won't take it for fear of live rounds.
I'm not sure on current prices but the place I take mine to usually pays good prices for it. I've found a five gallon bucket usually weighs about 55 pounds depending on what type of brass you have in it. I was getting $1.83 a pound last time I went.
Depends on the place and the price changes day to day.
call some places first and ask them what empty brass casings are going for.
I was told that most scrap metal places wouldn't take ammo. brass...........obviously there are places that will. So for you guys that have sold brass for scrap, can you name the place and location to take it to?
Yeah, I was selling copper a couple years ago at this place and they had buckets full of cases they'd just bought. GOOD cases too, from a range. I was heartbroken and it was all I could do to turn away.
Now MY stuff is all junk. Split & damaged cases, Berdan primed, spent primers, etc.
Call atlas in Denver, prices are good in my experience, many of their customers make me nervous. Near you is Oxford recycling.
Be aware, prices don't just change day to day, but can vary by as much as 10-20% from place to place - on the same day. So call around, not just one place.
Rocky Mountain Recycling, up north (near 76/74th Ave) had the best prices most consistently in my experience, back when I scrapped for a living, but YMMV.
Atlas is too much of a madhouse to deal with unless you have a pickup load of copper to make it worthwhile. That place is nuts.Quote:
