Saw a news bit today about us arming Syrian rebels. My assumption is they will be getting full-autos, as we have done in the past. Will they pass the background checks? And someday will they return the favor and give them back if we need them?

thought I just read that we have only provided humanitarian and non-military aid so far.. we are only starting to think about sending military supplies with the recent allegation of chemical weapons having been used. Most arms are coming in via Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

What I was referring to goes back to when we helped them prepare for the Japanese to invade- as was inevitable at the time- and the commander of the Army Rangers sent in to assist the Vietnamese (precursor to US Special Forces) reported that Ho Chi Mihn was a less than savory character and predicted we would be back within 40 years.
