Turds like this get coddled and paid big bucks to "soothe their hurt feelings", while a child with an Oh-My-God real capgun playing in his backyard is liable to be castrated and lobotomized, for his own safety and that of society.

I am all for respecting the flag as much as the next guy and if I saw this happening in person I would probably put a stop to it but I am sure this case would come down to the issue of the freedom of speech and if the district could fire him or not. I bet they got of on the cheap.

Freedom of speech? If he did it privately, maybe. In the classroom where he's supposed to have an approved syllabus and lesson plan? Not so much. They may have got away cheap but only because our legal system is dorked. Jackass who did this is lucky to still have a job IMO.

He was successful because as a society we're too terribly afraid of what might happen if we fight back against behavior like this. But there's a big difference between a 16 year old with little life experience being swayed because he/she doesn't really know any better (and probably isn't getting the education at home from the parents) and an adult buying into the crap that's being taught in schools.

Exactly. I would have loved to have been a student in that classroom- I would have pulled a Rick Monday... or knocked that teacher out. Either way, I wouldn't be going to that school ever again. [Muaha]

Is there? I had teachers like that at all kinds of ages, but still developed the way I have. I agree that teachers should teach as much as possible with as little opinion as possible.
