Oh yeah, drew a coveted rifle tag! And I have vacation so it should be good!
And my little brother in law drew so he will get to go on his first big game hunt!!!!
Congrats to you both! You'll post pictures after your successful hunts, right?
What area did you draw?
Assuming I get something of course! I can't remember where I put him in at, might be out at the family's property.
I'm up by craig
I have not applied for tags in years, just been buying the OTC tags so I'm a bit rusty on what the results mean.
This year I applied for pronghorn and deer in a specific GMU. When I looked online this morning, I now have 1 preference point for pronghorn (assume this means I was not drawn) but nothing for deer. The page shows that results for deer would be posted on or before May 17 and for pronghorn on or before May 22.
Could it be that I was drawn for the deer tag?
Yep looks like you got deer but no pronghorn
Thanks. Something is better than nothing.
Could the pronghorn issue be that I did not get drawn for my 1st choice but did get drawn for 2nd or 3rd choice?
How long until those that were drawn for something should receive our tags?
Sorry, never been successful at a draw before. Maybe I should buy Powerball tickets this weekend.
You can check on the dates posted and the upper list will show if you drew anything 2nd or 3rd choice. Not sure when tags get mailed out, probably listed on the brochure or website but j imagine in June or July.
I drew a pronghorn buck tag for 2013 so it'll be my third consecutive year to hunt pronghorn on public land in CO. In the past I've waited 7, 5, and 3 years to draw a pronghorn buck license. Bacon wrapped pronghorn steaks on the grill, yea![Dance]
For deer I picked up a preference point as expected but probably also drew a buck deer tag for second season in the same area I hunt elk. Not all the draw data is posted yet.
Missed again on Colorado moose, shucks. Heading into 2014 with 3 points and 11 weighted points....
Good luck to everyone!
My main hunting partner has 3+13 for moose. I'm at 3+5.....sucks! I'll hunt Alaska moose before I draw Colorado!
Woohoo! This morning I see that I was drawn for my 2nd choice for pronghorn.
I have NEVER been successful in a draw before and this year I get a deer and antelope.
If only my lotto picks would be successful.
My huntin buddy and I both drew our antelope tags for down by Lamar, not a trophy area but I did take a 75 inch goat down there 2 years ago. However no deer tag, that puts 9 points to my name in that department. 3+5 for sheep, moose, and goat, so I'm headed to Alaska next year for my second moose up there and hopefully a dall sheep. Anyone have a good location for black bear? I have seven points and am just waiting till I have time to invest looking for a nice one.
I'm in the same boat Lars. 7 points for bear and the same for goat sheep and moose.
What does it cost for moose and sheep in Alaska? Do you use a guide? I know some animals you have to and others you dont.
My dad and I went up back in 08' and it was 10k a piece for 10 days and we both shot nice bulls, we are going with Ron Warren of Alaska guide service next year for sheep, moose and griz. It's 16k for this one. Its 14 days of hunting in the Alaska range. Its not cheap but its what dad and I live to d. So we make sacrifices on other things and go on a hunting trip every few years. This is the bull I shot in 08'
Great looking bull! Have fun going after griz! That would be awesome!
Drew my Buck tag after 11 years of waiting and getting points. I even know where the one I want hangs out. :)
Successful was in my slot for Pronghorn! I didn't even put in tags for anything else, just points.
Thats nothing. We have a game trail on the property, had a big prongy buck out about 25 feet from me on private land. And can't do a thing about it!
Does anyone know if prongs go into a rut in fall or something, and become super aggressive? I don't think I'd like one sneaking up on me when they're 'in the mood'.[facepalm]
Wow, that's a helluva bull, Lars, they don't make 'em like that in Colorado. Lucky guy, you and your dad are living the life!
Good luck on your hunts this year. Look forward to hearing about it however it plays out.
Here's a little Shiras moose in the driveway to our cabins in NW Boulder County. My cousin is the brave one getting up close and personal.

If you hunt public land it seems the good ones are always on the wrong side of the fence.
This guy was behind the fence on private land next to the national forest where I was licensed to hunt.

I ended up taking the one below about a half mile away. He was younger and smaller but unusual enough that I had him mounted.

Ha ha, don't think you'll have any problem unless you look and smell like...... well, we won't go there....
