Not trying to step on anyone's toes, but just received word that WHAC's range is no longer open. Sad sad day indeed![facepalm]
Yeah, I got the email too. I'm saddened and stunned. Guess my ammo supply is going to last me a lot longer than I anticipated now that I am range-less.
Yep just got the email from Cy. I no longer have a legal place to shoot near me anymore, this is very depressing
We have been fighting this for many months and it is with great sorrow that we had to come to this decision.
Yep, now gotta start looking for another range to go to. Any suggestion?
Thank you for all the hard work CY and Juan!!
I will elaborate on the story tomarrow when I'm on a keyboard since I was there when the guy was raising hell, no I did not send the bullet nor do I think a bullet ever when through this douchebags window.
WOW, this is so sad, I have only been there twice but I really liked it. It also was somewhat close to my home.
%$@# I was on the list for a membership
That would mean suing Adams County; they are the ones who are changing the requirements under which we have been operating for nearly 20 years.
Well damn they got another one, the WHAC club off Bromely ln is forever closed.
This club was great you could practice anything you wanted and I suspect it was the downfall also.
Short story is some dumb shit let a round go over the massive hill it appears and struck a house which caused an investigation that ended up closing the range.
Looks like ill be getting a refund as i just renewed my dues in April, that's the bright side of this.
Well hell I guess I need a new hobby, time to sell all my guns and ammo. (yes this is sarcasm)
I only looked in GD. my bad
Merged
Well this sucks, I just found out about this range a few days ago to do one of the .22 shoots :(
Several decades ago, when the old Wes Thompson's Rifle Range was out near Newhall in California, a nearby homeowner went to the County Supervisors and demanded it be closed. He brought with him a .45 ACP slug he claimed to find on his roof.
A pristine, beautiful, never fired, no rifling .45 ACP slug ...
Does Gov. Owens firearms range protection he signed into law have no effect?
That sucks. I was also on the waiting list. It would have been awesome to have a range within a few miles to frequent.
are we talking about the same one?

nothing on the site
*yes*
I know it's far for a lot of people (me included) but Cheyenne Mountain is seriously awesome.
Real bummer.
I hope CO Clay don't need to shut down.
Never been there but the lose of any range is another sad day on Colorado. 2013 is just not a good year for us. Lets hope 2014 see better days.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.........
damn, it's just kick us in the nuttz by the antigunners. are some of these bastards working for the irs?
Though I've only been shooting there 2 years, the 22 steel dogs and the other long range event were great to go to.Thanks Cy and Juan for your efforts. It was fun.
I wonder if I move out by DIA and bitch about the noise if I can get that to shut down too. People have nothing better to do then bitch about what other people enjoy. Thanks to Cy and Juan for all your hard work. I have really enjoyed shooting at whac with all the great people for the last 5 years. Hopefully something changes and we can get our range back.
So where else can we shoot for those that live out by DIA?
Colorado Rifle Club would probably be the next closest range near DIA, but I am not sure if you would consider that "Close".
I was a member there, and consider the operators to be friends, so I was sad to get the e-mail as well.
Colorado Rifle Club (www.crci.org) does currently have open membership. We don't have .22Dogs, but pretty much the rest of what WHAC had. If there are enough people who want to shoot .22Dogs, we can make that happen at CRC once the new berms are complete. Cy, feel free to drop me a note or give me a call if you want to keep on doing it.
I still would like to shoot the .22 Dogs
I just got off the phone with Cy. If the range remains closed, there is some interest of running the match elsewhere.
I was a WHAC member as well and am now considering CRC. I am only debating because of the additional drive as I am in Thornton. Closing WHAC really sucks balls.
