Bad Tats

Nope, this is not a picture thread.

I'm interested in tats and tat history. Norman Collins and Bert Grimm are two of my faves. That said, I don't have any.

I have seen some of the sorriest excuses for ink lately.

Saw a guy the other day with an outline on his lower leg. It looked like a drunk 5yo with a Sharpie did the work. I have no idea what it was supposed to be.

Another was a girl walking by. She had an Egyptian eye at the base of her neck and Chinese characters running down the right shoulder blade. The upper sleeve was an incomprehensible mish mash of colors.

Then there are the scratchers. Just because your friend has a tat gun does not mean you should let them work on you.

Typically, tattoos are one of those "get what you paid for" deals.

I imagine youthful judgement and alcohol lead to most of the really bad tattoos you see.

I have a bad tattoo. I wish I could turn it into something cool.

Prediction: This post will not get as many replies or pictures as the Look-At-My-New-Badass-Tat posts.

Stupidest thing I had ever seen was back in 1992. Just moved into an apartment building. Walked past an open door, heard Metallica playing inside. One of the guys welcomed me to the complex and said to swing by later and have a beer. I said Ok cool.

Came back an hour later and there were 3 guys getting Sh*t faced and asked if I wanted to play a drinking game. I can only stay for a couple of beers, gota get unpacked. He said cool. Curiosity got the best of me so I asked what the game was???

We drink until the first one passes out. The one that passes out gets a tattoo of the not so sober other two. They had their own tat gun. I said I'll pass!!!!

I came back buy the next day to thank them for the beers about 11 ish a.m. Well, the one passed out was in the can and I hear, you Fuc*ers!!!!! That's Awesome!!!! Assholes!!!!

The other 2 tattooed " I Love Fish-N-Chips " on his forehead!!!!!!!!!! And he liked it!!!! WTF I said. That was their idea of fun. YOU Can't fix STUPID!!!!!!!

I've seen an episode of Lock Up where these two dudes tatted the whites of their eyes. That's got to be right up there...

Google Tattoo Nation. There is is an industry built up around it.

Man, I was in the Parker Post Office a couple weeks ago, and there was this 18 y.o. girl in front of me with a spaghetti strap sundress on. She had a fresh tat on her shoulder of some flowers, a big one, and it was AWESOME! I've seen a lot of nice tats, even shot some photos for Tattoo Magazine in the past, but this was some of the most beautiful ink work I've ever seen. I wish I could have got a photo of it, but I didn't even have my phone with me, let alone a camera.

She was very proud of it and happy to talk about it, but I'll be damned if I could tell you who did it. She did say that it was only about 1/3 done, she plans for it to run farther down her left side. But the detail, coloring and shading was spectacular. Very impressive.

Been involved with the Dermagraphic Industry sone way or another since 74. My former business partner, he's been Tattooing since the early 70's he knows way more.

Any relation to Sailor Moses? Then again, Sailor Moses was a superb tattoo artist.

My next tat is going to be of a Glock that shoots peace, having a Kaboom and blowing the peace all over the planet earth. There will also be a chain of all different races encircling the globe, buy holding together the stumps of their hands and arms that were blown off in the peace kaboom.

[LOL]No Sailor is just a monicker. He liked to run with iMke Malone. We'd sit around slamming "cocktails" with him, Lyle, Philadelphia( Crazy) Eddie and others during Conventions. All those old guys are doing the circuit as Old School lecturers. Big Money in the resurgence of acetate stencils and the 'old guys" at conventions. Kids will drop big coin on what we paid $10-20 for way back, today. Shit Gray or No hair looking kind of over the hill is "the big draw"

Worst I've ever seen, just after high school, with my buddy who was born and spent the first 13 years of his life in Japan (GI Dad, Japanese mom)- saw a guy at a party with some Japanese characters on his arm running from the shoulder down his tricep. I asked him what it meant and he said "It's Japanese for 'You reap what you sow.'" Well my Japanese friend stepped in and said "no, actually that's not what that says, your tattoo actually doesn't say anything, it makes no sense, they're poorly written characters." [ROFL1][fail]

When I was a youngun', I thought I wanted this for a tat. Probably a good thing I never did get it, probably woulda looked like shit.
