Hmmm, I never held that old saying highly. When I have opinions I rarely keep them bottled up. So now I'm just that much more curious. Dash15 does seem to lean heavily towards the PC side of issues. Being open and frank might be grounds for banning over there. It wouldn't be the first time I was booted from a site for speaking my mind.
Nope, You have more of a chance of getting banned from Arfcom than -15..
Nothing wrong with speaking your mind here or on foxtrots site but I would advise you not to waste you're time with ar15.com. They will not tollerate you speaking your mind. Unless of course they agree with you.
It is not that I can't say what I really think it's just that I won't as it's like beating a dead horse. We each have our opinions and those who like the site great for them like I always say to each their own.
I can't speak for anyone other than myself, but I don't have a problem with ARFCOM (Ar15.com).. been a member there since, well... a long time ago, 1998 at least.
it's a very popular site. GD attracts a lot of people.. and of course, with any large gathering of people, you're going to get some bad apples.
[Bang] Foxtrot, you caught my mistake. I certainly did not mean Dash15 as I stated. I've been registered on AR-15 for some time, but just registered on ARFCOM yesterday. It's late, it's heading for 15 below tonite, and I'm a little confused. I'll be OK as soon as the meds kick in.
I migrated to arfcom after eric of glocktalk finally booted me out. Got banned after a week by a racist moderator. You're allowed to say the F word, but if you say the word 'negro', you're gone. Arfcom sucks becuase you have to pay to have full functionality. I don't mean the babe forum, just basic searching.
what other forums are a good alternative to glocktalk and arfcom?
Well we're a good site, LightFighter.net, M4Carbine.net, thehighroad.net (I think they have some name rights issues right now) XDTalk.com, GOTX.com ..
Strong advice for both LF and M4Carbine sites... read more, post less. Both sites have a larger than average proportion of active shooters and SME's. Espousing silly things like the excellent quality of a Del-ton kit or how kick ass the cheap air soft kit you picked up will be for the End of the World Zombie fest will not get you a polite response or go towards your longevity as a member at either.
Well, I have been a member at Falfiles for a long time. The good thing is we do have a broad base of members that a large amount of knowledge. Yes we have some issues but all in all it is my home. Militaryfirearm.com is the old Cetme site and although a lot less traffic but they are a nice group of guys. Not a fan of Arfcom or THR but everyone has there place.
Just need to look around and see what fits your style. I do like this board because the members are local. There are a couple of forums I would like to see added but that is just me.
I was on ar15.com for a few years and have ABSOLUTELY nothing good to say about that site. I got put on "double secret probation" and finally temporarily banned for saying bad things about one of their sponsors, a company that desperately needs to remove their head from their 4th point of contact (for you non-airborne guys the 4th point is your a**). I could write a dissertation on why I despise ARFCOM, but I'll leave it at that.
I myself am one of what seems like the few on here that really enjoys ar15.com.
I have learned almost everything I know about ar15s on there. Questions about reloading when i was getting started were answered very quickly and by people who generally know what they are doing.
the general discussion place is usually to be avoided as it is full of guys who still live in their moms basement, but the industy and technical forums are great and full of tons of information.
full instructions with detailed pictures on how to assemble an entire ar15 from basic parts has helped me learn my firearms.
I like the equipment exchange. the new one they came out with im not fond of, but i will give it time and see what happens.
I am a paying member and I did it just to support the site. I had other members help me on there (actually drive to my broken down car) and help me. this was priceless in my mind and without that site I probably would have payed a whole lot more at the dealership than the 20 some bucks it cost me for a membership.
plus I buy and sell sooo much on there that the profit i make or the great deals I get are well worth it as well.
go to gun broker and one sale of a $1000 gun will cost you more than the membership on arfcom.
I'm glad to hear that someone had a positive experience on that website. But if you EVER say anything negative about one of their sponsors then you're going to get a nasty gram from one of the heavy handed psuedo-gods over there, especially one that goes by the name TJ (I think that's the right name, it's been some time.)
^+100%. I used to go to a few different forums for hunting, fishing, etc.-but now so many charge for political areas, private areas, etc.-guess maybe I'm old fashioned, but I agree (for once, lol) with foxtrot. 100%.
But the reality is that some of these people have duped us to these sites when they know absolutely nothing about guns, ammo, etc. simply because of the revenue. And you just never know which ones. There used to be some great private ones, but they were bought by companies that are actually anti-gun. Go figure.
