ahhhh summertime in co......birds chirping......grass yellowing and dying.....smoke in the air making me sneeze constantly....love it
Just talked to my mother in law (who is staying with us to take care of our 2 month old for the week) and she says she can see flames. This makes me really freaking uncomfortable....
damn lost one house in black forrest all ready :(
Up to 8 houses now in the Black Forest area. Voluntary evacuation area extends to now immediately west of me...and it's headed my way.
Be safe out there guys, prayers sent!
MIL and little HoneyBadger have bugged out to her house in Parker. Our house is south of the fire and not in fire danger at this time, but smoke can be deadly dangerous for little ones.
they are saying 10+ now
I'm still about 5 miles east of the eastern boundry of the voluntary evacuation area. Watching multi-million dollar homes burning to the ground.
Was down there today! Could see flames above the trees..
Royal Gorge has a fire. I can see it from Pueblo West easily....http://www.canoncitydailyrecord.com/...yal-gorge-area
Ran an audit to find out if I have any customers in the evac area. Only have a couple for now. Both are evacuating for safety's sake. Wild fires are no bueno. :(
God. That's pretty horrifying.

DO NOT PLAY...
the slightest change/shift in wind or weather and it can cover 5 miles in NOTHING FLAT
I am talking about:
Lock a case of MRES, the BoB< Docs and criticals in the car at 10 Miles. have EVERYONE DRESSED and READY TO GO
at 5 Miles... time to go to a relatives house.
DO NOT just watch the "fire to my house" distance, Be aware of your egress routes and being cut off.
Be safe... they build new houses every day. you and your families are irreplaceable.
HB, you keep your eyes out when the wind shifts tonight; I believe that it'll be pushing it in your direction, if they haven't gotten some control over it.
Aerial resources are now helping.
Mandatory evac line is now about 5 miles east of us.
ill climb the hill once i digest these brussle sprouts and take a pic for you guys
It's that time of the year again, and these fires suck ass.
Everyone should really take a look at their emergency supplies, evac plans, etc.
And this is a great resource: http://www.springsgov.com/units/fire...ty%20Guide.pdf especially starting page 52 where it talks about how to evac and what to take.
Upper level winds have shifted more easterly, and the smoke is moving a little to the south of us. A little good news for us, for now.

Carson is preflighting choppers right now.
We are still on standby.
We are upwind of the gorge fire for now.
Well, my house is anyway.

Keep an eye out for our house, Hoser. Right now, I wouldn't mind an orange front pasture!

There has been a definite shift towards the south with the winds here. That is some very good news for us, but we're not out of the woods yet.
Hearing 300' flamed length. Very scary.
