unintended consequences
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHA
Irony at its finest.
unfortunate irony for sure.
This made me smile.
Not that ironic at all. Most "environmentalist" do not like wind turbines because of this reason.
Think about this: The big Vestas turbines have a blade diameter of 126 meters (391 feet in 'merican) and turn about 23 rpm at max speed. Doing the math, that means the blade tip speed is around 500 feet per second, or just a tick over 340 mph. Now wonder the birds are getting splattered...
Somehow this has to be the fault of the oil companies and fracking... it has to be! Right!? Right!???? [LOL]
I used to work a lot with the guys that serviced the wind turbines for Xcel Energy at the Colorado/Wyoming border out of one of their power plants. They said they got protested for wanting to install a new gas turbine one day, then the next day got protested by another group for wanting to install wind turbines. Lose/Lose. Can't make everybody happy. Sucks for the bird.
Still faster than I would have thought.
But so what, birds are getting whacked by the blades. We have had at least 5-10 birds die since May just flying into our window at home.
hahahaaaaaaaaaa[LOL]
Quote:
We all ran over there and were heartbroken to find the poor bird lying beneath the machine, in perfect condition apart from blood and slight trauma on the head - but it was stone dead. Cries of sorrow and anger from the assembled birders began to turn into discussion as to what would happen to the bird's corpse, as we took pictures of it lying there.
Would have been hilarious if that had ended with " a fox snatched the corpse and ran off"
