Heard he got what he had coming.
Yeah, it was only a matter of time before people stopped being intimidated by his antics. That guy had the right idea on how to handle Silva. I was excited to see him fight his way back to the top, but it sounds like he's ready to be retired. He said he still has 10 fights left, but isn't going to be pursuing the belt.
He was looking for a way out. Kept talking about changing for his family.
For those of us who don't watch TV... what who why?!
Nice fucking spoiler.
He kept fucking with a very capable fighter. Anderson is the best fighter who has ever lived, and tonight he let arrogance take his belt from him. Very disrespectful to the fans, to the sport, to the belt. He's my favorite fighter and I'm very disappointed. Weidman is nowhere near his level.
Shitty way to loose a title fight... He sure underestimated Weidman
I have no problem saying Anderson Silva is one of, if not THE best MMA fighters to bless the sport. With that said, I can't stand watching the arrogant prick, and I'm glad his bull$hit finally got the best of him.
Silva's cockiness caught up with him tonight. His natural talent only carried his so far. On the other had, Weidmann looked so-so. Always been a St. Pierre (a true professional) fan, enough said.
Anderson definitely is a defensive fighter, so he's become accustomed, and very good at, irritating his opponents into attacking him so he can capitalize on their mistakes.
Agreed, but I still don't like to 1) make my friends mad, 2) be that guy that posts spoilers.
Anderson probably could of win first round if he wanted to, but he got his cocky ass TKO'd.
I still wouldn't mind a Jones vs Silva match. I always thought that he would have a better shot than GSP.
He was being a clown and deserved what he got.
Last night Silva gave that fight away because he was tired of the pressure of being the undisputed champion for 7 years straight. I don't blame him for wanting to pass on the belt and move on to the next phase of his life, in order to compete at his level he has to dedicate every minute of his life to training and probably has almost no time for his wife and 5 children.
With that being said money talks and I could see White throwing a lot of money at Silva to fight for the title again. There are currently talks that Silva will fight Roy Jones Jr. In the near future.
Weidman seemed to me; slow, and not on the same level as Silva. Silva got arrogant and sloppy; KO'd for it. Doubt Weidman will carry the belt for long, but we shall see!
After watching the youtube JoeT posted above, I can see what you're saying. So why couldn't Silva just say "F it, I'm done have fun guys" and retire and not fight when he was obviously mentally not in it anymore?
Disclaimer: I know absolutely nothing about the sport of MMA/fighting
I believe he still has ten fights in his contract. He is not the only fighter to peter out and get tired of fighting. As far as the video goes, he has been dropping his hands like that for several years.
Finding out he lost made my night. Guy has some incredible tallent but I can't stand the way he goes about fighting. Not much respect from him and he is too arrogant.
That was and has always been Silvas style. He has always goaded guys into making mistakes and taking unnecessary risks. I don't think it's an a-hole thing as much as the way he fights. He's always done it....daring guys while sticking his chin out. He pisses fighters off and that throws them off their fight plan. It's like a catcher in baseball talking smack to batters or a defensive back badgering a wide receiver. How many crazy KO's have we seen after one of those antics. That being said I think he's tired and wants/needs a break. He was sloppy in the first Sonnen fight and almost lost despite clearly being a better fighter. Jones is at the other end. He clearly looks unbeatable now.
That was just silvas style and he screwed up and got KOd. I'm glad to see another person with the belt
Say what you will about Weidman, he hadn't fought in over a year and beat Silva. Silva gave it away...blah, blah, blah. Weidman threw that right backhand and it thew Silva out of his rhythm, and Weidman landed that right perfectly. I do believe Silva's heart may not be have been in that fight 100% judging by his comments leading up to the fight. I don't know why he signed a 10 fight deal when he doesn't seem that interested in it anymore. Maybe he needed to get beat so he can get re-interested.
Either way there is a new "undefeated" champion. We shall see when he's tested.
After his escape from Weidman's attempt at a toe-hold, Silva spent more time showboating than fighting.
