Okay, so do they plan to sell to CO residents? Or is it the type of thing where they don't have to check ID's when selling mags, so they don't care?
Wonder if the police will catch wind of this and setup a highway block, road stop or something, would be ridiculous if they did that...
Is it legal to to purchase magazines in another state and bring them into CO?
Purchase yes, bring them home NO!
Buy something at the WY store that's legal in CO. If law enforcement stops you to search your vehicle upon returning to the state...
seriously, who cares?
Ever look around on July 4th? Those didn't come from the local stands in town.
the law is for suckers (all, not just this one). It's way past time to stop caring any little bit about the 20 bazillion laws on the books, most of which are unconstitutional and everyone knows it.
Take your pair out of the jar in the back room and go ahead and put them on and be a free man.
Just saying UPS Store
Yes it is perfectly legal to buy magazines in another state and bring them to CO. As long ad they are 15 round capacity and under for rifles/handguns. or 28" worth of shells or 8 round for shotguns.
Even if they set up a roadblock like a DUI checkpoint you tell them NO. Plus I believe it would be illegal to set up anything other than a DUI checkpoint unless they declare some type of emergency like an abducted kid etc.
Take some legally owned mags with you as well. Pay only in cash.
Hell i might take a box of 30s up there, buy some "CO legal" mags and see what happens. Not breaking the law one bit and it would be interesting to see how it plays out.
Take those new mags out of their wrapper and drag them around in the gravel for a little while. That will work.
Very true, but they could claim they are looking for someone, how many missing kids are there in CO/WY, and if they see anything in the car, they could always claim reasonable suspicion and make you the first person to be arrested of the law. Not a chance I'd take.
Two receipts, 30s on 1 paid with cash, legal stuff on the other paid with a card. Then you could show proof for one purchase saying you had the 30s already.
I highly doubt they'd put up a roadblock, but everyone also highly doubted this law would pass (even though everyone was still emailing/writing/calling legislators...).
Why not just check the date code to be safe (safer?) If it says 6/13 or older then you are golden; if not, you are a criminal.
ETA: Talking Pmags here
Its pretty stupid of Jensen's to mislead people on the law's effect, regardless of the odds of it being enforced. Stupid stunts like this are why I've seen people ask if magazines > 15 can be purchased outside Colorado and brought into the state post 7/1/13.
I must be the only one who really isn't worried about owning 15+ round magazines. I own them and I'll use them just like I always have and I'm not gonna worry about this chickenshit new law.
I suppose that if I had the extra cash and needed some extra mags I might go to WY to buy some, just not at this event. However, I don't have the spare cash for mags and besides, I did my thing with Magpul earlier this year so I have plenty on hand. If you want to go break the the law, please be my guest, I bet it would be very exciting to buy a 30 round PMag legally in WY and then smuggle it in to Colorado. I'm getting all sweaty just thinking about it. Hooooo!!
As others have noted, it is a law that cannot be enforced. We will either get the law repealed or thrown out at some point. Until then, do as you think best.
Ummm Magpul AK mags :) I may need some.
Best thing about the new mag law? The TP isn't overrun with dozens of new $40 PMag ads every day.
DUI checkpoints get beaten all the time btw.
I don't see how Jensen's can be accused of setting anyone up for failure. Is a liquor store, bar or restaurant setting people up for failure because a customer might potentially buy alcohol, become intoxicated and operate a car? Is a gun store setting people up for failure for selling a gun that someone might use to commit a crime?
We all make choices every day. I don't blame anyone else for the choices I make.
I think that Jensen's ad implied that it was legal for Colorado residents to buy magazines in Wyoming and bring them home.
