Unfortunately, all of or guns just took a huge hit on true cash value from resale.
I've never sold on Armslist, and honestly was always hesitant to do so even pre-July 2013. I've always felt that I'd rather sell to a fellow member on here or a friend/family member, directly.... now I can't even do that without paying a third party $35+ to cover their fee and the new state tax per bgc. It's such a waste. I really don't think I'm ever going to sell another gun as long as I live, unless I'm plum broke. I'll just keep what I have, and buy another one here or there when the money and the mood strikes, but (until these laws are repealed) past are the days when I'd buy/sell/trade with others in order to better experience a new firearm firsthand. You can't just completely disassemble and learn the internals of a rental gun, customize the grips and sites, triggers, etc... without being able to recoup my money, that is just simply no longer an option.
no luck lately. I think the draw was the private transaction which made it seem anonymous even though it was far from such.
had luck on here selling my incoming ar kits and uppers...probably since I sold them at cost and there isn't a BGC required.
Sad thing about it all is that we're doing exactly what they wanted: stop the 'flow' of firearms being sold/transferred, and "drying up" the supply!
My friend has had continued success in selling off his military rifles: M1 Garands, M1A1, M14, etc., through Armslist. But then again, most of his sales have been to out of state buyers so he's going through the FFL anyway...
Plus people posted on armslist about "stings" going on lately.

The CO law is kinda like a new experience for antis. See if making the laws really confusing and frustrating will stop people from buying guns, limit the number of new gun owners. And then start from there.
Thought I should update this. I posted my ad around the time I posted this and have a guy meeting me at 6 to make the deal. I'm selling a S&W M&P 40 VTAC fwiw.
My buyer said he has been trying to buy several different M&P's but none of the gun stores will do the private party transfers. With the cost and hassle of the transfer this is likely going to be the last private party transaction I do.

I like how the gun shops are refusing to do private transfers because it "costs" them money. Guess what that person doing the paperwork is getting paid by the hour, not the background check. So whether they do 1 or 100 that hour it costs the owners the same for that person. If they do pay by the check the charge accordingly and its syill a win. I get putting a fee on it, it is a service, but refusing is just playing into the anti's agenda. I actually don't think I will support shops that won't do private transfers.

The new laws won't slow me down any. If there is something I want I will still buy it. It will just cost me a bit more than it used to.
Selling is a whole different story. I can't imagine I would get top dollar for my Glock 17 with no magazines included.
How much do they charge? Giving up 10% or so (seems that's a pretty common percentage??) to avoid a time-consuming PITA, doesn't really seem too bad.Quote:

Yep, I've met several good people from this site through trades I've done here (not so much on Armslist - but still a few). It seems many people have decided that it makes more sense to buy new now since they will have to do a BGC either way and the FFL fees take away a significant part of any savings that used to be there for private party sales.Quote:

If I were to ever buy guns, I would look to friends and known acquaintences. It sucks because there are a lot of "things"on my wish list that I would definitely have looked to private sales for.

No offense but that is bullsh*t, that other customer that might be buying something doesn't know if the store employee is working on a private transfer or store sale. All he knows is that a person is being helped that was there before him. If anything a private transfer is an opportunity to sell add-ons, holsters, ammo, sights/scope, the add on list can go on. Now that minimal profit has added up to something worth the time. If the customer never steps foot in the store they never buy anything. With all the internet sales these days storefronts need as much foot traffic as possible, alienating customers for any reason doesn't help their bottom line.Quote:
