Wish I woulda joned for $300 life member a little while back.
Glad I got in a few years back at the discounted rate!
Of course they hit me up for cash at least once a month but I can deal with that.
I joined up my daughter, re-upped for myself and ponied up the extra $10 each for service memberships as well. My magazines showed up two days ago but I have not had the time read them yet.
Good on you for re-upping.
If only there damn iPad app would remember my Membership number I would be much happier.
I give them false info. Bad address, phone and email.
That's a +3 so far, Aloha.
Keep your eyes open. They usually have multiple campaigns for the $300 lifetime membership that run each year. People on calguns were successfully signing up even earlier this month. I'm willing to help sponsor anyone who wants to be a life member if aloha runs out of slots.
And yes, holy cow do you get a lot of mail, phone calls, etc. Ugh. I remember reading somewhere that there's a number you can call to get you taken off the spam list though.
Okay, the offer no longer appears on the website but I've submitted a question to the Membership division about when it will be offered again.
That would be cool.
I don't know about that - but I wrote a personnal letter to Wayne LaPierre. I'm sure he didn't read it, but it basically said I PROMISE I will re-up (this was years ago before I was a life member myself) if you stop wasting my donations on sending me renewal solicitions so early, and start spending it on defending our rights. I didn't get a whole lot of crap after that, beyond the magazine and ILA emails.
I don't get any calls or emails - but I signed up in my CCW class and don't believe I provided them with anything other than my PO box and a a CC number. I get a lot of shit in the mail but no phone calls or emails.
I've been a member for as long as I can recall and I have never gotten the dreaded phone calls, mail, or other solicitations I hear about. I've always opted out of the "magazine", not sure if that affects things but if they didn't send me my renewal notice once a year, I would not receive a single NRA piece of mail all year.

Call them. It's easy. They'll remove you from almost all notifications other than membership specific stuff you need to know.
If you become a Benefactor they stop harassing you about upgrading.
O2
I'm at Patron and they don't bother me too much about upgrading. I did sign my wife up as a Life Member when they were running the $300 deal. I think having as many members as possible helps.
I finally got a reply from Membership Services.
None of you looks good enough in a bikini for me to want to fork out $500 gratis but let me know if you want Life Membership bad enough to pay the extra $200. Otherwise, I'll keep watching and let the board know if I hear of the $300 offer again.Quote:
Thank you for contacting us.
As of now there are no specific plans on if or when we may run that promotion again. Right now, current Life Members can give gift Life Memberships for $500.
To take advantage of this offer, please contact Life Member Services directly. They can be reached at 1-800-672-3888. Please select option #3 for Life Members on the menu. Our specialists are available from 8:30am to 5:00pm EST.
Thank you very much for your support and please feel free to contact us if you ever need anything else!
Thank you, Sir.
Benefactor is next step personally after recovering a bit from stocking/gifting mags, weapons/ammo, supporting the recalls, NRA-ILA, etc.
Get tired of the diatribe as it is pretty easy to eliminate most all NRA correspondence, e-mail is manageable if you call or even e-mail a request.
Bottom Line: The HONEST need for donations will never end! Sadly, some folks have to be beaten repeatedly, there have been a LOT of members signed up with great deals but it also takes admin $ to run an effective service and lobby like the NRA does... Certainly a much changed organizational mindset with room for further improvement.

Reminder - It took a bit, but NRA-ILA most definitely helped with the recalls, continues to do so. FWIW, "we" might need to take a look at some of our local NRA board reps too, but that's down the road after 2014 elections that count.
Oh yeah, another thought" CO Republican Committee/whatever Recall contribution to date = $0 after lots of "meetings" and plain obfuscation... Yeah, lots of problems there WAY more concerning than sending the NRA $35 or whatever you can!
