Thieves. Plain and simple.
perfect.
Ummm, sure, yeah, that's the story and they're sticking to it! And these people will run the healthcare exchange?Quote:
There were no injuries or arrests after the feeding frenzy caused by a power outage during a routine maintenance test by Xerox of their government-funded debit cards.
Are they going to press charges? Could we get away with this type of thing if this happened with our 'bank cards'?
The same state where Katrina riots occurred and the Superdome was ransacked and nearly destroyed? Noooooooo
Imagine what will happen if all the EBT cards are shut off for even a day. [shithitsfan]

“That’s a problem. There are a lot of families who are not going to be able to feed children because the system is being maintenanced,” Colman said. She planned to reach out to local officials. “You don’t want children going hungry tonight because of stupidity,” she said.
If they could track down every single one of those ebt users who took advantage of that error and deport them to, I don't know, some abandoned village in rural Siberia, the US would be immeasurably better off.

Like one guy on the radio asked-don't they have fridges and pantries ? No food in the house to last a few days ?

Reminds me of politicians and their spending habits....aint my money, toss another 0 on the end and hook me up with a nice vacation to hawaii with some golf! Happens at all levels.
so there are records of every one of these purchases right? and they will at minimum be docked against future bennies right?
If they are smart about it all purchases will be deducted from future benefits until the bill is paid. As was said all the transactions were recorded so it is not like the gal that had $700 in her cart and only .29 cents on the card could claim she did not know.
I can hear the howls next month already. After seeing an article about how the poor woman was going to live on a reduction from $800 to like $625 in food stamps I about fell out of my chair. I know the wife and I spend about $150-$175 a month and eat just fine. I know I can feed a family of 5 for no more than $500
Just for fun since I am feeding 4 adults and 2 kids tonight I added it up. Dinner for 6 came out to $6.59 and I splurged. I also buy on sale and stock up when I can.
It was called Liberia. [LOL]Quote:

I wonder if it allowed you to purchase other things too. Have one of those slackers buy all the ammo in the store and then sell it for 75% off in the parking lot. I could use a few cases of 556 for sub $100.
SameQuote:
Walmart shoppers cleared shelves and filled shopping carts to overflow after a software snafu removed spending limits from their EBT cards.
Normal
All
F%#*&@
Up
We can expect this to become the norm?
Theft, plain and simple. Everything should be recorded and those that abused it should be disqualified from any further benefits.
What am I saying...?! Like that will ever happen.
Edit: Better?
Let me answer this question with another question.
Let's say the bank made an error and credited your account with $1,000,000. What would happen to you if you withdrew that $1,000,000 and spent it? You would go to prison for theft. So, how is this EBT thing any different?
Well, isn't that a nice memo?
I wonder if that memo is related to this article, from the 2009 "Recovery Act", SNAP benefits were to be reduced 11/1/2013: http://www.cbpp.org/cms/?fa=view&id=3899
I don't think they're less than human. They certainly follow human nature and will exploit whatever they think they can get away with.
Definitions can vary.
I expect a certain level of behavior from people, these people do not meet that expectation. Yes, I am disappointed every day by the actions of people, I really should lower my expectations substantially.
OTOH, These people are the same ones that will kick in your door, murder you and your family, just to get something you have and they want. They are the enemy and I think trouble is coming our way so I am getting mentally ready for the fight and describing them as less than human helps to prepare me for that fight.
Last I heard Walmart is out the money for this clusterf&*% and Xerox is saying it is Walmarts fault for not following emergency procedures i.e. $50 maximum purchases. But I believe some of you are right, that this is going to be in the future with riots. At some point the .gov is going to default, and if you don't have your own private army to protect you, you might possibly die.

I suspect the manager made the call to protect the lives of his employees and the property of Walmart as I don't doubt that crowd of losers would probably have turned violent when they were cut off at $50 each. It will likely cost him his job, but its probably the call I would have made too.
