Could have been worse for him.
A shitty past, but 100 grand a year is pretty nice.
do you have to pay taxes on it?
8 dollars an hour to be wrongly incarcerated for 1/3 of his life...
3 hots and a cot has to be better than a cardboard box down by the river. On top of that he got free medical care. And yes, I do understand your post. [handbags] But then I have military that like to do the same kind of math and do not include that $1600 a month tax free for BAQ/BAS as income. [Flower]
I didn't read the article so I don't knoe how old he was when they locked him up. Measuring future potential is a tough gig.
Tough to justify more ?
They jailed him for 17 years for a crime he didn't commit. And apparently, they knew it was unlikely he did commit it as well. But of course don't let that stop them from getting a conviction, and get your case closed stats up. After all, that is all that matters.

During the investigation, police recovered the shirt Dewey was wearing when the crime occurred. The shirt had several bloodstains on it. Dewey claimed that it was his blood on the shirt, but police didn’t believe him. Using the methods of DNA testing that were available in the early 1990s, police tested the blood from Dewey’s shirt. The testing confirmed that the blood on the shirt was consistent with Dewey, the victim, and 45 percent of the population. In addition to testing Dewey’s shirt, the State conducted DNA testing on the victim’s fingernails and semen from a blanket where she was raped. This testing confirmed that Dewey was not the source of the semen or the DNA found under the victim’s fingernails. Despite this, prosecutors continued to pursue Dewey based on the other circumstantial evidence.
Good job there. Consequences to them, zero. True American heroes.
