Is the music on the Doctor Who game on Google today from the original 1963 show, or the 2005 version?
My interest was piqued and I found the original on Netflix last night. Anyone watch Doctor Who? Is it worth watching just for rounding out my historical pop culture knowledge?
I would say yes. Tom Baker was the best Dr., in my opinion.

I finished the more modern one recently and loved it. Excellent show.
I suppose I should try the older one.
Today is the day of the doctor.
New is different, than the original. Have the entire "Event" DVR'd and getting ready to round out the day watching the warm up leading to the UNINTERRUPTED 2 hours.

I really did enjoy most of the ones I've seen. I like David Tennant the best, but it is mostly based on the actor you start with I believe.
I can agree with that, and the Tom Baker years may have been a bit campy, but I just think it adds to the appeal.Quote:

Downloaded a copy of Day of the Doctor ... loaded it up in my Plex server and after I get a few chores done the Mrs and I will settle in to watch it ... we're both having pretty severe Dr Who DTs (and frankly Tourchwood just isn't good enough to stave them off).
I agree, and being in my late 30's he was my first Doctor. His quirkiness and charm made him a fun Doctor Who, which is the same reason a lot people like David Tennant so much, well that and his overflowing energy.Quote:

Got hooked on all the Brit comedy stuff, The Young Ones, Benny Hill, Are You Being Served? etc. when I was in Germany in the early 80's because we got BFBS instead of AFN. That lead to a general following and watching Red Dwarf when it ran in later years.Quote:

Steven Moffat is a good writer, but he doesn't have the same dedication to structure, order and continuity that Davies had ... and for a show about time travel you really have to be careful not to let things get too messy. Watching the last three Doctors compared to Baker or Pertwee is like comparing Star Trek The Next Generation to TOS. I like both and they each have an interesting take on their universe. Just because the show has been around for 50 years doesn't mean that the current show has much in common with the original show.
I just finished watching yesterday's episode. It was OK, but I am more than ready to move along from the Tennant/Smith years. I hope Capaldi brings a different flavor to the character and I hope the writers can find some interesting things to work into the episodes. The story arch running throughout the seasons keeps the show going even when there are a few weak episodes.
I have to admit that I get a chuckle out of any episode featuring UNIT. I assume that one day the Chinese will look at us and wonder why we look longingly upon our past glory.

Anyone watch Xmas special. Can't say I was impressed and frankly not looking forward to new Dr.
It was rubbish. It was ,along with the last 3 episodes, like listening to a kid with ADD reading a choose your own adventure book. That said, I'm looking forward to Capaldi being the new doctor. I'm not looking forward to Moffat continuing to run the show.Quote:
