The first three went great. I'm disappointed in the other two.
I donno why but this is bothering me a bunch.

It doesn't suck?
Sorry JM, what are you looking for out of "blaster" ammo?
What brand of rifle?
It'd bother me, too. What ammo? What barrel profile?
Well, when I saw the "blaster" ammo... I'd not get overly concerned. Probably the 1st three shots were the fluke! [Coffee]
Haha this is going down hill quick, like Monica!
Never tried their ammo, is it decent?
If you didn't jerk it so much you wouldn't have that problem..
But seriously though..
Cold barrel? Do you have a couple other groups to compare it to?
It was cold barrel. Had to leave and only had time to do those 5.

Something tells me this thread isn't giving JM the empathy he was desiring.
It's Blaster ammo. Did you measure the OAL of the bullets before shooting? Perhaps #4 was shorter or longer. Perhaps it didn't have the fill. Perhaps you just bought cheap blaster ammo and were expecting superior results from it.
A little story: When I was 21, I bought a Llama .22 that looks just like a miniature 1911(still have it, makes an ok doorstop), and took it to the range. The first round down the barrel cut the X out of the bullseye target I had sent about 15 yards down range. That was the only time to date that particular pistol has EVER put a round in the location I intended. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Parallax... always something I've been spanked about here... and I'm sharing some of that love wit yah [Coffee]
I bet getting 3 together you got excited and your position (Eye, cheek, anything with you behind the boom stick) changed causing your eye on the reticle to change.
JM forgot to add that he shot this with his eyes closed. I have to say it's pretty damn impressive.
Isn't the normal practice when posting pictures of targets online to double the distance? So this grouping was really shot at 50yds? [LOL]
No, really. What barrel profile? Is it pencil thin or a truck axle, or what?
Actually, islandermyke is likely on the correct course. I'd guess parallax, too.
Pretty good 600 yard target if you ask me.
You probably flinched on the last two. Being a girly kind of man and all... [Coffee]
Two words: Blaster. Ammo.
Take what you will from the rest. You didn't load the rounds, so you don't know. Five data points do not make for an accurate study...ask BC.
Y'all need to take bob out of this. Blaster had nothing to do with it. Better to say nothing at all my mother told me. Have to be the nice mod and all. Ask Paul what he thinks. [Bang]
This was with open sights right?
How fast did you shoot these? Couldn't the vertical stringing be from a barrel getting hot?
Reliable scope and even 700 factory heavy barrel should not do that.
Even people with good long range experience can be disturbed by phone calls, friend talking to you about hot chick at the range, etc.
Besides potential human error. Here are variables:
1. Severe cross wind over 20mph during your 4th 5th shot.
If the scope has adjustable parallax, the error could easily be 6" or more.
There are a whole bunch of thing's that could cause it and there is not enough info given to make an educated response .
The 2 most likely things are shooter error and shity ammo , take your pick ,both are equally plausible with the info provided .
Everything else is just guess work .
On a serious note this is a 5 shot group of hand loaded 308's from a bone stock rem 700. I am by no means a good shooter. Technically speaking I'm not worthy to hold the umbrella over hoser, islandermyk, or Tim K's head on a sunny day at the range.
