Cool. What will the crazies do this time? Full moons are bad enough as it is... but blood red ones?
I don't trust a moon that bleeds 4 times a year and doesn't die.
I will have to check that out tonight.
My wife says it is one eclipse every 6 months over the next two years, not 4 in one year...and tells me to go look on the nasa site if I don't believe her. Since she was just sitting here telling me about this stuff and about mars being the closest to the earth tonight as well, I'll just take her word for it and repost :p
SO IF I BA SOMEONE WITH BLOODY ROIDS IS THAT A REAL BLOODY MOON
O......M.......G.........you said someone
Don't think I've seen a blood moon before, it was a neat scene. Got a few photos but should have used my heavier tripod, the lightweight one didn't handle the wind very well. And, it was cold, wind chill around 5F degrees. Also, too much lost in downsizing the photo file for posting here. Next time I'll use the heavy tripod and a longer lens.

Mine didnt turn out either. I think it was because I had the auto stabalization turned on on my lense. I also am a newb with my DSLR.

Even with you guys complaints they are still cool pics.
Lobbed from my electronic ball and chain.
Definitely nice photos, as an astronomer you'd think I was up last night but alas I couldn't be due to the long days I've been working the past few days. I needed sleep. I saw a great one about 5-6yrs ago.
But, for those of you that missed it, there will be at least 4 more total lunar eclipses visible in north america over the next year.
I missed this hilarious article yesterday, only saw it this morning:

Nice! Looks like you fit Mars in there, too?
Nice pics! I saw the inside of my eyelids... It IS definitely an interesting time to be alive, that's for sure.
Great pics, Hummer and drift_g35! I stayed up till about 12:30am and the eclipse was only beginning. Figured I'd go to bed and listen to some audiobook and check later. Woke up around 2am, still half-asleep, and nearly fell flat on my face when I missed the last two steps on the way downstairs. Got to see it though :)
Thank you both for the pictures.
Yep set alarm to get up and see it. Wife loves these events. We get up every time there is something going on.
I took a pic for you http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/16/ymevuvu3.jpg
