Since I have a Buckmark, I'll vote for that. But I've heard the Buckmarks and Rugers are neck-and-neck for the #1 spot in semiautos.
Beretta neos
Can be converted to a rifle or pistol within 5 minutes.
Magazines load easier than Ruger.
easier takedown/cleaning than others.
Built in picatinny rail for whatever sighting system you choose.

While I think the Ruger is ok, I prefer the older buckmark over them. My favorite by far is the Colt Woodsman Match 2nd series with the 4 1/2 barrel. I like the standard 4 1/2 inch barrel, which is a dream to carry, but the match does edge it out when the competition is involved. The mag release behind the trigger guard makes for easy mag changes, and the mags have a comfortable thumb knob for easy reloading.
Another vote for the Buckmark series. Lots of options and mine runs like a top.

Hmmm, all about Ruger and Browning. What about Walther, Sig, etc. I've seen them on the line frequently. Wonder what the "flaws" with those systems are...
No flaws with the ones we owned. I look for availability of parts, upgrades AND cost of magazines. I paid $15 less per mag for ruger and brownings than sig, walther etc.Quote:

I have a Beretta Neos and I have to say I like it just as much as the Ruger my dad has and the Buckmark my brother has, that said, I think any of the 3 are good choices and if I were buying today, it'd be a tough choice. I bought the Neos when it was first released and I was a big time fan of berettas at the time (I was mainly a shotgunner back then). I've been very happy with it, it's shot everything I can think of for ammo and I have NEVER had a stoppage with it, even with std velocity/subsonic ammo. I'm diligent about cleaning after shooting so that helps I'm sure and if I wanted to push it for testing purposes, I'm sure I could dirty it up enough to get a stoppage of some sort. That said, my dad's Ruger, and my brother's Browning have performed just as well. My only complaint about the Neos is the iron sights on it, they're too coarse for really accurate shooting, so I put a red dot on it and it's a tac driver (this is where the pic rail is a REALLY nice feature).
S&W Model 17 if it wasn't for the semi-auto qualifier. Browning Buckmark would be my other choice. Heavy barrel, picatinny rail on top with red dot. Loaded with CCI mini-mags, it is one of the most accurate 22 semi handguns I own. Better than my Ruger 22/45, Sig or Walther.
My grandma used to have a really nice Colt 22, that she was planning on passing down to me, but it was stolen from her. Still my favorite 22 handgun, and likely the one I'd choose.

Ruger Mark II with 6 7/8" barrel (Gov't Target Model), threaded, with SWR Sprectre-II or SilencerCo Sparrow suppressor.
Accurate, reliable, will go many hundreds of rounds before cleaning is necessary. Take-down/reassembly is easy once you've done it two or three times (Youtube tutorials if need be).

Have one from 1997. Had a scope rail put on it by a gunsmith long before it was a factory option.
Red dot sits on top. Shot a hummingbird out of the air once, felt really bad about it.
i don't know if it has ever had an issue with any ammo.
Beretta .22lr conversion unit on my M9.
Any of the Buckmarks of had and sold. I really like them. Then I don't shoot them often and sell them, and regret it.
