Ran out of BOTD pics ?
Damn Gabe.. good to see you are alive.
Well, after their intentional price gouging during AND after the panic, I'm not feeling sorry for them. But I agree that criminals stealing firearms is obviously bad, so I hope the other parties get caught and punished to the full extent of the law.
Gnomes.
Here's the deal. As a capitalist, I understand that it's their prerogative to ask whatever price they want. People paid it. And basic economics says that if they didn't raise their prices, they'd sell out of their goods too quickly, be unable to acquire more, and be left without a revenue stream; plenty of demand with no supply to drive the business. I'm all on board at this point.
What I have a problem with is the market rate hovering right around 80 cents/round at its highest point, with everyone else able to stay in business and try their best to meet demand while OD Green was literally charging $1.40/round for the same munitions. A 57% disparity is cause for alarm, and although it is their prerogative, it's also mine to call them price gouging shills. As a bonus, the one time I bought something from them, a 20-something who was literally wearing a plate carrier with armor behind the counter had a very audible outburst about wanting to kill an annoying vendor. He was identifying himself as Sergeant X; United States Marine Corps. The consummate professional.
No tears here.
No, and that's not my point of contention. Price gouging is not defined by, or predicated upon, being forced to buy something. That's called communism. It's the intentional and purpose-driven act of charging exorbitant prices for goods. I suppose that if the people buy it, the demand is there at that price. So I can't condemn them as a lover of all things laissez-faire. But I can condemn it as a principle and code of integrity.
Dude. If the factory service writer at Schomp BMW quotes me $4K for a transmission, you quote me $3,785 with OEM parts, and Advanced Transmission asks $6,712, it's called gouging. Someone will pay it, yes. Someone "needs" it, so there will be a demand. That doesn't mean that there isn't some sort of line to be crossed, even if it is subjective.
What I don't think you realize about business is my goal as a business man is not to be the cheapest around. My goal is to charge as much as I can and keep my tech and myself busy. I refuse to race to the bottom when it comes to price.
I charge a lot because I buy the best equipment, I pay for school for myself and EVERYONE who works for me, I keep my lights on, I buy the top quality parts and I provide a nation wide warranty for two years. In point of fact I am paying to send my shop manager to DFW for a weekend to attend a class on running a shop. So I am paying for the class, the plane ticket, the hotel, and the food to make sure she is a highly trained as I need her to be. Does she already do a damn good job? Yup, but it doesn't hurt to see another angle on how to do a job right.
That costs money.
So I charge a premium for my work.
ETA: I keep finding more to say.
You might consider my prices to be gouging. Because they are indeed high. Personally I think people who come to my shop and pay those prices get their money's worth out of me.
The one time I went in there a salesman with the AR on a single point was in a heated argument with a customer about the prices. It's everyone's right to have a loaded gun but it's my right to beat feet when one them gets pissed off. The dude cleared the store.
Want to complain about pricing start another thread. OR resurrect the one that started way back, last time someone's vagina got sand in it.
I gotta agree with ol' sandy-crotch here.
I used to think that price gouging was indeed a real thing but it only applied to necessary commodities such as food and water during a crisis. If you were talking about any other item, especially something such as ammo, which is widely considered a sporting good component, then there was no such thing as price gouging - That was called capitalism.
I have since come to realize that there really is no such thing as price gouging. Capitalism simply doesn't recognize it. If you don't like their prices or the way they operate, then take your money somewhere else. If the market doesn't like their prices or the way they operate, the establishment will go under. Thus, the market speaks. Capitalism.
I believe you mean this thread: https://www.ar-15.co/threads/76761-p...hlight=gouging
So as I said who gives a shit about the myth of price gouging.
Also I would turn in some POS again knowing what I know now so don't take this as if I regret the decision. I am going to DA to seek more assistance with witness/victim protection.
The burglary of any firearms or ammo etc affects all of us in the firearm community. I posted this for a few reasons. it reiterates to me the no good deed goes unpunished. By that I contemplated for 36-48 hours on whether to report. I reported it anonymously and yet the fucking Investigating Detective used my name to get the confession. I'm sole provider for 6 kids and Asking the ID at Arvada how they can protect me due to credible threats on my life now was nill. I basically have to take my own protection in my own hands and regardless of all precautions I take I cannot be everywhere I need to be etc.
I am afraid of no one on this earth thus why I came to the conclusion it was in everyone's best interest to let out the info I came across. My life was threatened along with my wife's by the person who allowed Noah Graf and Jodie Howard to stay in their home. The home owner aka Norm over cash his wife owed my wife is the person who threatened both of us. Again falls under the being sole provider and me being "Papa Bear" to do what I have to to protect my family.
Then the fin reason is I need some help from folks on here. Feel free to PM or PM me for my number and we can talk further. I have a pistol for protection and one for wife and kids but lack a few other things and also could use some resources to know where the POS people are.
Appreciate you guys resurrecting the old thread if you wish to debate economics and keep this for help and any info.

price gouging - pricing above the market price when no alternative retailer is available
Transferred means still in custody, correct ?

That was one of them. The other was the Price Gouger List of vendors thread. Once again vagina where penis should have been.
Oddly enough [beatdeadhorse] A fair percentage of "price gouger" complainers, had no problem posting their shit for above market prices, cause that was ok.
"Knomes"- noun, commonly the more knowledgeable of the genus "Gnomes", which are known to inhabit gardens and flower pots.
Knomes- prefer to stay indoors, frequently under beds and only seen at night for they know the knowledge that should they inhabit gardens and flower pots as their less knowledgeable brethren they would get peed on by the neighborhood dog or kidnapped by bored rich suburbanites and carted across the world and silly photographs taken of them because the didn't know enough to stay unknown.
Now ya know.
[Muaha]
Call me at the shop if I can help, Gabe.
ZeroTherory, from now on, just say, "Screw those guys" and leave it at that, and everyone will agree with you.
Gabe, hope everything goes well for you and there is a positive (for you) conclusion.
Everybody STOP with the price gouging discussion in this thread. Create another thread if it's that important to you.
I vaguely know about the thefts at OD Green Supply and don't know what's transpired that's caused one of our members to be involved. What I gather from posts #21 & 23 on this thread is that we've got a member, a Brother, from this site who is in need of assistance and his family is in a potentially volatile situation because he did the right thing. Let's keep the discussion focused on the primary topic of this thread and find ways that we as a community can aid our Brother and his family.
Gabe, PM incoming.
Your link shows me nada since I'm not logged in ..
but As for transferred meaning still in custody .. I'd wager YES. like if arrested in denver they would start at the downtown jailhouse then be transferred out to Smith Road if they are staying for more then 1-2 days .
I was on my phone so try this link out. I am adding the 2 in custody their info from the site.
