They are here! It only took 12 years since they released the first gen. And the new ones are less then the old ones per tire! I have my next set of tires picked out.

Lets go drifting to burn off the old ones!
I was excited until I looked at the size selection. Hopefully they expand it soon. Not many choices
If you are a fan of the old design, then the KO2 may be a good choice for you. With that said, they did nothing to update the most important part of the tire (the tread). Some swear by the design, some do not. I enjoyed the original KO's well enough, but think I'll stick to my Duratracs.
I think it's a good all around tire (for me anyway). Not the best for all situations but a good compromise. My biggest beef with most of the Goodyears and they wear so fast. How are your Duratracs doing?
Actually they did change quite a bit with the tread. Nothing drastic, but there are there. I have the Duratracs on the cruiser and they are allright. TKO2 with longer treadlife, better compound, higher sidewall rupture resistance are going to be very nice. Especially since they are less money.
True.. I don't think you'll regret the KO2 one bit, it's the longest unchanged AT for a reason.
I said I'll stick with my Duratracs, but I've actually been looking hard at the Cooper ATP for my next tire. I just don't wheel like I used to, and could use better DD manners.
My Duratracs have 21,111 miles on them, and this is the wear...

Sorry to hijack.
I would enjoy something a little more aggressive in the winter, I've even considered running full mudders, and these would fit the bill nicely, but without the 285-305 'ish 17" option in load range E, they're not gonna work on my 2500 RAM Diesel.
I've tried a few other makes/models on my jeeps over the last 20 years but always went back to the BFG's.. Don't think I'll ever try anything else again.
I'm in the same boat. Ram 2500 Diesel and I need something in that range.
Not to derail this thread but I do need new tires soon. 285/75-17, 295.70-17, 305/70-17 "E" load range. something around that size. Can't seem to find much in a all terrain other then Ntto Terra grapplers which I hear wear really bad. Longevity and decent snow performance are of importance. Nothing too aggressive that my mileage will really suffer.
I've been very pleased with the BFG Rugged Terrain. Wearing well towing and decent enough traction otherwise.
They also have a 50K treadwear warranty.
They're not as sticky as AT-KO's, but you're going to have to compromise a little to get the treadwear.
The BFG-AT-KO were too squishy and not nearly as stable as the Rugged Terrain and I only got around 15-20K out of them towing. I think I've got 15-20K on these and they're maybe 40% down. They worked well Elk Hunting last year and kept me on the trail.
I had the last version and have not had a better tire. Best all around traction, best wear around for such a meaty tire. I'm waiting for the Generals to wear out so I can upgrade.
I would need 255/80-17
I've been running the Toyo Open Country ATII on my personal truck and it's been a great tire so far (about 15K), but then again, I have a set of Duratracs on my stock rims that I've studded for the winter so I can't comment on the winter use with any great detail. The little bit that I've ran them in snow and crap they did well but not anywhere near in the same league as the studded Duratracs, but of course they're not studded so it's not a fair comparison.
I run nothing but duratracs on my work truck year around, because my choices are limited due to a national contract with goodyear @ work. My work truck is a Chevy 2500 extended cab and I go through a set a year on average (50K miles/year) I put a new set on pretty much every November so I have good tread in the winter and they perform very well. But with very infrequent rotation, and driving on crushed granite frequently, they are shot at 50K. They only get rotated about every 15K which is far from optimal but getting oil changes twice a month is bad enough for shop time without throwing in a tire rotation every month. If you rotated them more regularly, like every other oil change, I"m sure they'd last much better.
The new BFG's seem like a nice tire but my biggest gripe with them is since the KO's came out, they flat out don't wear as well as the old ones, but they are better on icy conditions. A buddy of mine has a set on his 1 ton Dodge Diesel (crew cab long box, so it's about as heavy as it gets on 4 tires) and they are already about shot in 25K miles. Dunno, guess we'll see how the new version does. If you're running a half ton or other lighter vehicle I'm sure they'd last much longer.
