New(ish) Transfer Law and Shipping Out of State

Forgive me if this has already been covered, but I tried searching and didn't find much.

Does the new(ish - they're a year old at this point, I guess) transfer law change the requirements for shipping out of state or can I still ship directly to an FFL in another state?

I'm guessing that's still the case, but who knows?

Since I just went through this and may go through it again soon, anyone know the least expensive way to ship?

I had to take my firearm to UPS distribution center (the local storefronts won't take them) and it cost nearly $100 by the time it went through their mandatory process.

So if I were to take my gun to UPS I'd have to next day air it, but if I took it to my FFL there is a chance that they could ship it by USPS on my behalf?

Sounds like it. Question is... How much is your FFL going to charge you to do that?

BTW, taking it to UPS means finding the correct local distribution center that will actually accept it. Local storefronts will freak the f*ck out, as I found out the hard way.

What mandatory process? You go in fill out shipping tag, have them weigh and measure box, pay get receipt, leave. I have a ffl copy in hand for them, if asked.
Someone took you for a ride. The Most i was ever charged is $40, that included $1500 worth of ins.

This was a couple of weeks ago at the UPS facility in Englewood with $1200 insurance. The mandatory process was having to ship the firearm as next day which increases the price considerably.

When was the last time you shipped UPS?

Thursday 10/16 bolt action long gun to FFL in Miss.
I only ship long guns UPS, let local FFL deal with hand guns. Unless there's a request from the seller for over night, it goes ground, usually a 3-5 day delivery time. Long guns are not required to be shipped next day / over night. Anything other than standard ground i let the buyer know it's on their dime. OR we have already negotiated terms of sale.
With long guns i break the item down, to keep cost minimal.

Yeah that's the difference... I was shipping a handgun. I should have put it in a big box and called it a rifle. But it probably goes through an xray machine at some point.
