What a freak show.
Saw a truck last time I was up at Lake Mac that had "Cousin's Cousin" with a heart around it on the side window and "Just Married" on the back of the truck. Tried to pull out my phone and snap a pic real quick but we had already driven past it [Shock]
Where @ in Huskerland ? Looked at a place SE of hastings pop. 90 $35K for the place Spouse says it's too far east .
I just passed through on my way to Iowa.
It's got wind.
Lived in Hastings for 4 years. Let me know if you have any questions. For the most part, I really liked that town, and the area surrounding is pretty nice. The old ammo depot out East of town was pretty fun to explore. Most of the WWII Navy munitions came from Hastings. The ethanol plant stank when the air was blowing that way.
I want to say it was usually around a 6-7 hour drive from Denver Metro. Juniata was West, trying to remember what might have been SE.
We saw a bachelorette party using a school bus when we drove through. We were stopped at a gas station and this school bus rolls in with some adult drawings on the front and inflatable penis sticking out the window. Then about 8 ladies got out to use the bathroom and give come hither looks to young men leaving the parking lot. I have pictures around here some where.
Don't get me wrong. I wasn't trying to disrespect the state. Just the people who live there. They are all really weird and most of them are funny looking.
At least the liberals are few and far between.
Got some Big Mulies in the sand hill area.
I don't know what it is but I can't stand that state.
Wait...you were going to Iowa and you're bitchin' about Nebraska? That just ain't right.
I spent about three years in Omaha one winter...[off-yourself]
Iowa is a nice place, but I get pulled over everytime I drive through that state. The state and locals use pretexts whenever possible. The last time was the final straw (obstructed tag while driving four miles under the posted). I will drive through Illinois, New Jersey, and New York before I will spend a dime in Iowa on anything other than official business.
Nebraska is more interesting to look at than Kansas [Flower]
Atleast you only need a steering wheel every 67 miles...
Lived in Hastings for four years thanks to the Air Force. Hate the state as a whole, but always thought the Hastings area was nice. Did a lot of bird hunting out there....and always thought that Blue Hill would make a nice place to retire to.
wait a sec, have you not looked around denver at all? hell the last few tanner shows i have done were freak shows compared to any weirdness i have seen in Nebraska. also you basically drove right past my store and museum on your way into iowa, stop on by next time [Flower]
I have a good buddy who graduated from Hastings College. He loved it out there. Visited him the year after he graduated and love the town. The hunting camp at the old depot was awesome. Turned one of the storage buildings into a pretty sweet little club house/bar, and the skeet range was awesome. I might go up there one year for bird hunting...
Don't worry about Ray, he's just mad because the gas station he went to was sold out of Cheetos. Nebraska isn't so bad. Besides, they don't have any pro teams, that's why they all are so hardcore Huskers fans.
I'd rather be in NE than KS any day. It took me several visits and about three years before I found a good steak house in Omaha: The Drover.
And they do love their team. And if you drive the secondary roads, the pick up truck drivers wave to each other.
Great thunderstorms roll through Omaha as well, very entertaining for the out of staters. The Holiday Inn makes a great bacon cheeseburger.
Last few years Nebraska has had better bird hunting compared to Kansas. I still would love a section in either state for hunting. Colorado farmers have yet to get a clue about fence line to fence line planting and over grazing their land. The education is happening but at such a slow pace.
I grew up in Nebraska. 18 years was enough. Not where I wanted to be any more, but Omaha has a hell of a standard of living. Get out in the boonies and you'll find some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
...and in case you guys haven't noticed, Colorado is loaded with freaks that should have been institutionalized or just plain locked in the basement.
...and if you think the I-70 drive is boring, try I-80 driving West out of Salt Lake City. The sign that says "Absolutely nothing 128 miles" isn't lying. Well... there's salt.
Born and raised in Hastings, they have a fantastic museum with lots of bang sticks and a now closed 'bone room' of indian artifacts.
Nice place but I'm glad I'm here!
I do find Omaha amusing. Every time I pass through the radio is talking about traffic congestion, jams, whatever. I hit Omaha at 5:00 pm the other day and went straight through on I-80. Check out the picture of my speedometer. Try doing that in Denver at 5:00 in the afternoon.

Eastern Nebraska is weird and full of weirdos lol I'm originally from scottsbluff out in the panhandle it's more normal ;)
You can thank Hastings for Kool-Aid, it was invented there. Your welcome!
