looking to build my first AR...

Sorry it's been a while since I've been on here but Dec. was an on and off being sick kind of month... guess I still need to get use to this kind of weather. Anyway, I'm looking into building my first AR and I was hoping to get some input on where would be a good place/site to check out and begin this project... I'm in no hurry as I have to much to do on my plate with my family, truck and finishing my sleeves... so I'm thinking of starting with the lower and working my way up. I'm thinking, caliber wise in 556. I'm a recreational shooter and I would love to have this in my arsenal... I already have a Glock, a Single bolt rifle and a Semi Auto Shotgun... well that's about it on my end so hopefully I can get some feed back. Thanks All.

Jump on an Anderson lower for $39 at Primary Arms. It wasn't that long ago they were going for a Hell of alot more money than that and they could skyrocket again at any time.

OP- keep in mind you get what you pay for. I have worked on and built literally hundreds of AR platform rifles. Cheap components are just that, cheap. Add to the fact that since Dillwad got elected the firearms industry has been overwhelmed with demand, every manufacturer has been cranking out components 24/7 and QC is not what it should be.
The market is flooded with components.
Right now we are in a slack time. Take advantage of it and get quality components for just a couple of bucks more.

Would you be so kind to explain the difference between adviSe. AND adviCe . Since so many ask for advise when building an AR. Any advice is appreciative.

The rest of the responses were the fun part.

Try Brownells for one stop shopping. They have a series of videos that will show you how to assemble one. Watching them will probably enhance your understanding of the process and the parts required.

Also, try to determine the intended uses for this rifle. Long range, CQB, 3 gun, plinker, hunter, etc. How you intend to use it will drive many selections like barrel length/weight/quality or which stock to choose.

Ridge is selling a good lower.

This kit from PSA and a stripped lower would make for a solid, basic rifle for under $600.
