Pre-great crash of 2015 IIRC, there was a thread about a Tulsa reserve deputy, aged 73, who shoot and killed a suspect thinking he pulled his Tazer. He spoke with Matt Lauer and wow, what a terrible speaker. He even claims this could happen to anyone. How? I still don't understand how you mistake your firearm for a Tazer.

From what I saw of the video, he did mistake his pistol for the Taser. You can hear the panic in his voice and his hope the shots weren't fatal when they're rushing to get to the guy he shot. The "oh crap" reaction was instantaneous so I doubt it was faked.Quote:

In the interview he said he wears the tazer on the other side of his body and in a entirely different spot so that really makes me question the muscle memory theory.
Also I saw a small frame revolver on the ground I am not sure if that was the volunteer cops gun but if it was it is much different then a tazer in size, shape and feel which would make me doubt muscle memory even more.
I am a skeptical person I usually judge a person more from their action then a few words they mumble. I would not surprise me at all if the guy just wanted to get a kill under his belt and jumped at the wrong opportunity.
There is something very wrong with someone who thinks another human, especially a man he's never met, wants to get a "kill under his belt."
Chuck Norris is 71... I can only assume at his age he is probably still pretty fit. R. Lee Ermy is in his late 60's and would appear to still be able to handle himself. I personally don't know anyone in their 70's that could work the streets, but I'm sure some exist. Well, in December I'll hit 79 years of age.. There are times when my response in need of an immediate decision on something is a little bit delayed due to the mind being sometimes in a little temporary "fog". I certainly do NOT want to have to make any life threatening snap decisions concerning whether or not to fire at someone. We oldtymers should let that stuff for you kids still in your 50's and 60's.
