Brown served in the US Army from 1954-1957 and again from 1964-1985 he was a Green Beret who served with Special Forces in Vietnam and retired from the US Army as a lieutenant colonel. At one point, Brown was the Vice Chairman of the NRA.Quote:

Many many years ago I had lunch with him up in Boulder - albeit somewhat unknowingly. A really good friend of mine had a relationship with Paladin Press, and invited me to have lunch with him and one of the folks who worked there. Turned out to be Brown - we ate pizza on Pearl street while mocking college hippies. Strange times.
I found him to be very interesting, reasonable, and pretty down to earth.
With all due respect, that was an attempt at sarcasm.
