Good thing they found all of those guns and live ammunition after the owner died of natural causes. Who knows what kind of deadly rampage all of those lonely weapons might have gone on if they were not secured by the police. [facepalm]
That's pathetic.
i guess any next of kin are screwed...gubbies arent gonna let them there guns go, they might like some of em...
Why would anyone need a whole box of 50 death dealing ammo?
What do you want to bet that the next of kin listed as the heir never sees any of it.
Or and I am just spit-balling here because its California it was the idiot heir that made the call.
That is completely retarded. Why on earth would you have to call the police in that situation much less evacuate a neighborhood???
They must not have told the residents why they were evacuating, because if I knew why I would have told them to get the F*uck off my lawn, slammed the door, and called a lawyer.
It must be tough going through life as a complete idiot.
I've seen this nonsense before and sometimes it can be profitable. Years ago a buddy owned a gunshop and a cali transplant came in with a 5 boxes of vintage 45-70 ammo. The ammo was unopened and from around the late 1800's. This guy was about to have a melt down just holding it. He found in his late Grandfathers house and was afraid it was going to blow up and destroy the home before they could get it on the market.
Another time a another guy came in with a military 30-40 Krag ammo belt with 20 or so rounds of original ammo. Same story was afraid the house was going to blow up. Neither guy wanted any money they just wanted to get rid of the ammo before it exploded.
If they followed that criteria here in Colorado they would have to evacuate the whole state.
Friend sold the ammo for a $100.00 a box and still have the belt and ammo. The belt is rare, not many made and fewer yet survived all these years.
Lucky there wasn't a gun store nearby. Would've had to call the National Guard and Fienstien......
Blurring the lines between ignorant and stupid on a daily basis..... NY, Chiraq and Cali.
An illustration of the difference between Western and Eastern CA. I doubt this would have happened from Bakersfield and to the east.
I think in the last month or so, I have found myself sighing more than usual. I've read and seen things that aren't worthy of a face palm or double face palm. Just a sigh of disappointment.
I'm not angry, just disappointed.
Damn, I hope the Cali immigrant yuppies across the street from me never look too closely inside my garage! I need to get that ammo cabinet built.....
I grew up in Pacific Palisades, great place in the 60's and 70's full of a bunch of pinheads now.
Was that an SNL parody? I kept waiting for someone to look at the camera and say "Live from New York it's Saturday Night". Seriously, that is stupid on steroids. This could only happen for real if all the Cali dems believed that nobody in the state still had any guns and ammo left in their possession. Are these people stuck on stupid or what.
Wow stupid beyond belief. The worst part no one in the neighborhood said or did anything but comply. Baaaaa Baaaa go the sheeple.
I remember reading a post on some gun forum from a member that was a LEO. He went on an urgent call about an "explosive device". When he got there, he found an entire family trembling in terror, because there was a shotgun shell rolling around under the back seat of their rented minivan!
The pussification of Americans continues.....
Over 1200 guns and several tons of ammo from newest reports.
LOL, my comment about the stupidity of that reaction was deleted.
Los Angeles police investigating a man's death discovered an arsenal of more than 1,200 firearms and approximately two tons of ammunition in his home and garage Monday.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the unidentified man's decomposing body was found in his car, which was parked down the street from his Pacific Palisades home earlier Monday.
LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith told the paper the number of guns was "staggering."
"Our truck couldn't carry it all," Smith said. "We had to go back and make another trip." The Times reported that many of the guns had never been fired, and some were still in boxes with price tags attached.
There were no signs of foul play in the man's death, nor was there any indication that he had been involved in criminal activity. However, detectives want to investigate why the man had so many guns and whether the weapons had been linked to any crimes.
"We have a lot of work to do," Smith said. "Running the background, history and legality of these weapons is going to require a tremendous amount of time. It's not a crime to have a large number of weapons so long as they were legal to own and legally obtained. We want to make sure that's the case."
Guy sounds like some kinda gun and ammo hoarder. He had guns still in the box and never fired, crazy.[Sarcasm2]
"It's not a crime to have a large number of weapons so long as they were legal to own and legally obtained. We want to make sure that's the case."
I'm good with that.
The story didn't mention when and where the auction is scheduled. I look forward to seeing the catalog of 1200 guns and a couple tons of ammunition [Coffee]
Since Californians want to get guns off the street, I'll take them off LAPD's hands for a dollar each, no five dollars each, and ensure they are never touched by criminal hands. I'll also dispose of that ammunition for them gratis.
Sounds like he had one of the rarest and most advanced forms of black rifle disease - "Reed Knight Syndrome"
Unless they're all high points or cowboy guns...
Go ahead gun, kill! Don't be shy!

Damn. I wonder what the value is? With that many, there had to be some really unique and/or neat ones.
Or what, they are going to file charges against the dead guy?!Quote:
