Shopping around for new insurance and would appreciate any advice or companies you have been happy with, currently with geico for auto and liberty mutual for home. Auto is fine, but homeowners went up about $500 this year after it went up over $200 the year before after the fires/floods.
i am not opposed to getting everything under the same roof and see what I can get for discounts. Would probably also add my travel trailer on and maybe an atv as well.
I've got State Farm for all my insurances. I have been with them for a long time so I don't know if that gives me better rates. My homeowners went up last year so I adjusted my auto needs on a 2001 Ranger.
You have to do that on a fixed income haha !

I use State Farm, and have a great (and very attractive) agent out of Fort Collins. She is fairly new, around 10 years, but I've worked with the office staff she inherited when my old agent retired for over 20 years, and they are great too.
Everyone I have sent her way has signed up with her, so she must be doing it right and have great rates.
She will come to wherever you are, so don't worry about distance.

We have State Farm right now, and I plan on going to USAA. State Farm raised our homeowner rates and did it in an insidious fashion, notifying homeowners through the addition of a paragraph on page six of a brochure instead of a specific letter that states "instead of $1000 deductible, we will now be charging you 1% of your home's value." I THINK THAT'S WORTH A LETTER BY ITSELF, DON'T YOU?
Their out of state claims adjusters absolutely suck. Save yourself some heartache and pass that company by. We were with them for over 22 years, never had a claim until three years ago and then we were treated like absolute dirt.
Not sure what the requirements are..but after dealing with AIG and their private client side.. OMG.. they aren't fighting anything on a busted water heater and massive damage at the boss' house!
I'm used to fighting them.. it's a welcome relief to be sure.
I've got everything through Metlife after getting in a big pissing match with Allstate a couple years ago over my snowmobile coverage (they went full retard) and the rates are as good or better than anything else I can find. Their claims service is absolutely great, after my garage was broken into a month or so ago, they were very helpful with the claim handling and very understanding of my crazy travel schedule with work. They had a check to me inside of a week for the losses minus the deductible.

Owning a log home in the hills is a PITA in terms of finding someone to insure it. SF screwed us over after 30 years. Allstate screwed us over after about 2 months.
Country Financial is who we're with now for homeowner's, auto and RV. More expensive than GEICO on the auto side by about $400 per year. But by having multi-policy discounts with homeowners/auto we're saving about $700 on homeowners. So overall we're coming out ahead.
I've had one claim for a roof. Took about 20 mins from the time the adjuster arrived until I had a check in my hand. And he paid the $1000 deductible (I mentioned I'd waive a claim on my metal shop building roof that had some minor hail dents in it if he'd pay the deductible...he said, "Sure").
Never an auto claim. They are very easy to get along with.
I'm hoping I can stay with them in Idaho and I'm hoping my car insurance goes down a little.
