Wife's 50th is early December. We're having a party and I need a food/wine guy to cook and do the booze selections.
12-14 guests.
Know anyone? The party is in Woodland Park.

" The Party is in Woodland Park "
Is that an open invitation to all members ? [Tooth]
If it was closer to Denver I could probably help with some referrals but I don't know anyone down that way that I know of.
I don't know any down that way... I'll see what I can dig up

Wife of a coworker (he's an inactive member here) is a trained chef/sommelier. PM me your contact info and what you're hoping to do and I'll get it to her & see of she's interested. She's out of Falcon, so it's close enough to make Woodland Park easily enough.
Cmon guys...if I have to cook it's gonna be ugly.
Time to get serious, IF you're unable to find a cook / wine server.
Menu:
Appetizers : Bruschetta and Shrimp Coctail
Salad : Smoked mozzarella penne pasta salad possible a green salad for the "Gluten" deniers
Main Course[s] : CROCK POT !! Have a killer Barbacoa recipe you can do a day or 2 ahead of time, also include say something like a pork tenderloin
Dessert: BIRTHDAY CAKE. plus Ask 1 or 2 of the guest to "bring something"
As for wine call the guest for a sampling of their taste.
Everything can be made a day or 2 ahead of time. Allowing one to rest before the bog 50. Unless you're inviting food snobs who can or will only eat FRESHLY MADE DAY OF EVENT. Then Order Pizza.
The wife of the folks who run the ranch our dog would stay at is a trained chef who does catering, etc. She's out of Black Forest, but here's her website: http://www.milehighbistroco.com/
A bit of her bio:
Quote:
My family owned 2 French restaurants, The White House Inn and Le Bistro as well as a dinner theater company in California. I got to learn from some of the best French chefs which gave me a great early education. I have done all aspects of restaurant work from dishwashing to prepping, serving to training, food safety to Captain at The Hungry Hunter, O'Mallys and The Whales Tail (to name a few)! I was the Catering Director at a private club, The Sacramento Club, which included parties for the elite business people of Sacramento to the Governor of California to the President of the United States! I did catering work in Texas for Dell Computers and threw many wonderful private parties.
Tonight was the big night. The Ginsue's recommendation was the absolute bomb. Deanna from "The Portable Palate" came and put on a show that was really impressive. She was knowledgable while being humble and approachable. The food was terrific, and her wine pairings were excellent. I recommend her without reservation.
It was surprisingly affordable considering the level of expertise. If any of you jokers have an event in the works, she'd be an excellent choice.
awesome
He was posting past his bedtime
I was just thinking about this and wondered if you had gone with Deanna or not - and if so, of we were still friends.
Her husband has brought some of her food into work for lunch and shared it with me and I have always been impressed so I goped you would be too.
Thrilled beyond belief that it went over so well.
With your permission, I'd like to pass on your words to Chris so he can pass them on to Deanna. Given your review I'm sure you've already told her as much, but we humans can't ever get enough praise.
Still can't believe I wasn't invited. :-(
I assume they didn't serve Taco Bell Zack
What's wrong with Tbell?!
