Is it me, or are there increasing amounts of degeneracy down there?
It's just you.. in fact, walking down 16th street mall I saw a unicorn shitting a rainbow.
There was an interview with whatever the mayors name was the other day.. I watched the cliff notes.. no idea wtf he's doing about the problem.
Same thing they've been doing since hicksoner was in office. NOTHING. It's impossible to blame the "random criminal acts" that have been reported on gangs, especially those associated with 5 points. Or are as the some on Talk Radio would have you believe, Racially Motivated attacks targeting whites.
As long as good people just sit and watch others get the crap beat out of them nothing will change.
The average person who visits that area is more of the snowflake type who feels downtown is a rich & vibrant melding of diverse cultures & people. Not saying it's not a bad area for anyone to take a trip to.
The last guy to get assaulted in that area was a SJW who for some reason believed "talking " to 2-3? assailants would convince them to stop attacking someone else. OOPS.
We haven't been to that area for 5 - 6 years now. Even them it wasn't a place we would suggest tourist visit.
I do pass that area 1-2x a month during the day. Both the spouse & i are armed and doors locked. Then again, anytime we travel that's basic O.P.
You know, it doesn’t matter what they took, my purse, that is of no value to me,” she said. “The way they made me feel and the way they made him feel, that’s just not fair,” she said. “They shouldn’t be allowed to be free and to do that to somebody else.”
Bet one can guess where they stand politically and on gun ownership.
Who goes to downtown Denver? I avoid the city like the plague and have no use for anything there with the possible exception of Comic Con (and even that is getting too crowded for my tastes).
Easy stance to have living in the Springs. The one time I met you, it was on the steps of the Capital. :p
Who all works down here? Maybe we can all get together for lunch?
"In a panic, she blacked out". She forgot to piss herself to further enforce her feelings towards the robbery. They got away from this easy. Could've ended worse. And this is somehow news?
Wasn't there a story recently about retail shutting down at an alarming rate in and around LoDo?

This will be the first year since 2002 that I won't buy Rockies tickets. Every year of the last four it has got progressively worse anywhere downtown. We always liked to go down early before games and eat at different restaurants. Now, no place to park or you can't afford parking. You can't get in the door of most places, when you do everybody is rude, plus I can no longer carry to Coors Field. Downtown has turned into a place I no longer recognize nor wish to contribute. So yes degeneracy is just one thing on a long list of issues, I'm done with it. And the way building is going on around there this cluster F is just the beginning.
I bet that giving just one of the eight some extra breathing holes would make the rest scatter pretty fast.
I'm betting that one of those 8 was packing as well and wouldn't have had a problem showing off to his buddies. I don't care how well trained you are with a gun, 8 on 1 isn't going to end well for the 1.
The problem here is they cut through an alley at 11pm. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
I went down there for the first time in ages for Halloween. A friend of a friend who was working security said, "Watch out. Two dudes are going around starting shit with a lead pipe." Thankfully my friend who was with me is a parole officer, so we weren't of the blackout-and-throw-our-purses persuasion. But I can't imagine the risk of going downtown after dark these days without a sidearm and the knowledge to use it. At the very absolute least, an extensive boxing/wrestling background.
For such a small city, Denver sure is trying to emulate the petty assault and property crime of the big boys quickly.
Makes me glad I did my partying down there 10 years ago.
Civic Center.
Say when and where, I'll try to make it for a lunch. My mobility scooter has a pretty good range...
Denver is pretty tame for a larger city. Go out downtown on holiday nights? Walk alleys at 11pm? Have no situational awareness? Walk the streets intoxicated? Advertise yourself as a target and you'll soon become one.

Mondays & Wednesdays, I take my lunch at 1:30. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I take my lunch at 12:30.
Would this coming Monday work for you guys at 1:30-1:45ish?
Homelessness. If you build it, they will come.
Not to be crass but it's true.
I used todrive carriages on the Mall 10 years ago. It has turned into a shithole in the ten years since Lickepoopers and Handoncock took over Denver...
I enjoy down town from time to time. Well, except for the pesky homeless. My plan to stay safe usually involves not getting too drunk and making sure I am out of there and heading home sometime in the early part of the night.
My dad used to tell me (when I was wild and young)that nothing good ever happens after midnight.
I didn't listen to him back then but now I kind of know what he meant.
On an off topic but related note, I see they are doing a musical version of "A Christmas Story" at the Buell. Might have to take the wife down there for that and dinner.
Not that great of a place now. Any time I venture to that area, I definitely am carrying (but I carry everywhere anyways).
I work by Repu lic Plaza
