I would appreciate gunsmith recommendations. I have several Government .45's I'd like trigger job and ramp polishing done.

Will give you some more options.
Thank you

Is Gunsmoke still open? Brian Meidal and his team highly qualified smiths may be able to help you.
You don't mind if Rich Wyatt puts a little reminder that he worked on your gun do you?

His shop gives me convulsions, but he does great 1911/2011 work.
Thank you for the recommendations.
I have a 5" 1911 built by Andy at least 10 or so years ago. It outshoots my Baers and any other 1911 I've ever owned. It was gifted to me by the widow of one of my best friends upon his passing over 3 years ago-he bought it new from Andy.

Very nice. Thx for the info
This guy is in Colorado too, and his work is very nice.

All I can say is stay away from that guy named Karl.
Unless you're looking for an illegal select fire 1911.
:D
New Baers can run as low as $1800 (still steep I definitely agree) from the largest distributor, a guy in Idaho. I believe at the time my 1911 was built it was around $1400. Again I'm not the original owner, though my friend was. Over the past 37 years with what I've spent on semi and full custom 1911s my house would be paid for lol.
Frankly there's a plethora of fine lightly used 1911s out there, my last 2 Baers were both purchased used and I couldn't have been happier with them (I know not everyone likes them but I do, haven't had any issues with any of them). Saved enough over new to get LOTS of .45 ammo.
I haven't talked to Andy in a while, no idea if he's slowed down on the work he takes on but there's no way this 1911 is leaving my family for at least 2 more generations. Fortunate both my sons appreciate 1911s as much as I do.
Attachment 62497Go see Frank at Heritage Gun Works. http://heritagegunworks.com/ Frank fixed a buddies Springfield Milspec 1911 and turned it into a family heirloom for his dad by engraving his dad's and granddad's police badges, upgrading parts, making it reliable, and refinishing it. Tell Frank someone from Tactical 16 sent you.
I'll check with him also. Thanks
