Not me. It would have been impossible for it to have been me for two reasons: First, as with others here, unless the gun it disassembled to a point where it couldn't possibly fire I treat them as though they are loaded; and secondly, I've never owned an "assault rifle".
Very tragic event and my heart and prayers go out this this persons family and friends. I must confess to being dismayed every time I hear of another shooting "accident" as almost (if not all) are avoidable by following the very first rule of the 10 Commandments of Firearms Safety (Any of Rules 3, 5, and 9 would have kept him safe too).
10 COMMANDMENTS
OF FIREARMS SAFETY
Treat every gun as if it were loaded.
Keep Muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
Never point a gun at anything you do not want to shoot.
Always be sure of your target before you shoot.
Unload guns when not in use.
Never cross a fence or jump a ditch with a loaded gun.
Be sure barrel is clear of obstructions.
Never shoot a bullet at water or a flat hard surface.
Store guns and ammunition separately and in a safe place.
Avoid alcoholic beverages.
