Bad dog owners, allude to killing their dog. Intervention?

Just saw this post on fb where the last basically details their problem dog that sounds like they failed to train on any level. Now starting get the dog in a small window else hubby is taking it on a one way trip.

I pointed out you can surrender a dog and illegal to just shoot your dog yourself. Now post is deleted.

Worth contacting some kind of animal control or pd in fountain? Far from me but know some members in area that may know right people to maybe contact.

Where is it written its illegal to shoot your own dog? Im sure it would have to be done humanely. I would like to see the statute.

It's been in the news a few times for people doing it. Outside of ran over car mortally wounded situations.
Given this retards predilection for looking inbred on their page and affinity for hi points, not what I consider someone making rational choices with care for their animals.

I suppose one option would be to let the dog who is "a hazard to their home" into your home...

The way I grew up, if the vet said there is nothing more we can do, my father calmly took said dog or cat, loaded it up in the truck, and "went for a drive". I'm certain if one of our dogs would have killed another pet unprovoked, they'd be going for a drive. I guess us small town folks just grew up a little different than city folk.

Oh well for the dog lovers. Just kill your pets when tired of them or do something wrong vs turning over to a rescue. This bitch tries to sell not driving it due to no money when you can see plenty of money floating on their public stuff. Which, the original thing I might add was posted publicly by them. Good looking Rottie. I hope someone can save him. That said, I lived and worked on a ranch in my sprier days and we had a 1903 solution for numerous animals, some dogs included.

I'm down with the myob. Don't want a dog that's aggressive. I'm sorry the owners are scum. A dog is not a human. If it's going after animals it may go after a human. I don't see much difference between a needle and a bullet myself.

eta If it's turned in to a shelter as aggressive, the outcome is most likely the same.

We'll agree to disagree. If I have two dogs, or a dog and cat, and dog number one kills dog number two (or cat), I have no use for said dog, and I certainly wouldn't trust it around my toddlers. It's a fairly common societal norm to "put a dog down" when it kills another animal unprovoked, and bullet or needle doesn't make a difference to me, one is cheaper.

It's amazing how many folks want to be the one to pull the trigger on murderers and rapists, but when a dog kills needlessly we can just "socialize and train".

I'm with myob camp, as well. Hubby is pissed, and if you were to insert yourself in their family issue, especially if she hasn't told him, you are now the dog (i.e. the target of hubby's aggression).

Hurley, i agree to an extent but like Shane said, I'm pissed because it largely seems like retard owners fault. After all 3rd dog also took part in ganging up on one. They don't have control over any of their animals and it sucks the animal would pay for it and not them.

Regarding offing their own pet, who cares. Some folks have no business owning anything that breaths, be it 4 or 2 legged. The up side would be if he shot the dog and the ricochet took him at the same time.

Have had the dog for two and a half years and still has cat aggression? When we got our dog, she had never seen a car before and went after them. My wife cured that issue in the days flat and it hadn't been an issue since. I might put that dog down myself as well, EXCEPT we wouldn't have ever let it get that far.

I don't disagree with this, lots of crappy dog owners out there, and perhaps this could have been prevented, but historically criminals including murderers come from crappy parenting, so I'll revert back to my original comparison.

I feel bad for the dog but I felt bad for Lennie in "Of Mice and Men" too. Their own "innocence" and naivete doesn't change the fact that both appeared to be a danger to those around them. What did the cat do to deserve its fate (and I say this as someone who is generally not a cat lover)?

I feel bad for the dog. Look for some rescues. Give them a shout and the info. I'd contact the local pd honestly, but I have more care for dogs than people. I'd rather put down the worthless owners

If that dog really is that much of a problem then maybe that's the best thing for it. It would get put down by needle at the vet, same thing in a pound. If it attacked one and killed another fellow pet that had been in the house with it I could easily see the dog attacking a kid. Then what...the guy gets sued for a dog he knows was no good? I'd take the dog on a drive as well if I was him. And I love my dogs, but it isn't worth it if you know they are not good. Is it the owners fault...absolutely. But it's also his property and his business.
