Saudi Arabia and Iran

Is anyone else hoping they go full retard on each other? Seems like it might actually solve some of the world's problems, one way or the other. I wonder how Israel might get involved if the Saudis declare war on Iran. Does either side actually have the capability to project power across the Persian gulf like that? Again, Iraq and Kuwait and several US bases and assets are stuck in the middle... this could get very interesting. I bet the US would immediately get involved and deliver overwhelming force into Iran on behalf of the Saudis.

Nope no outright war. However, I think that iran will try to cause internal trouble in saudi arabia with riots and protests forcing the saudis to come down hard on their own citizens causing more unrest. It will take awhile before we get involved. If the saudis do decide to strike iran, I believe that they have a superior air force with superior training and could bomb iran at will. Nuclear facilities should be high on the list of targets.

This. Iran taking on the Saudis in air combat would likely be a short fight.

I doubt Israel would get involved between 2 muslim sects....but if they did, it would be a very short aerial conflict.

Maybe we'll get lucky and the leadership of both sides will take big hits.

Remember, major US policy is to protect the House of Saud. This will blow over, it has to otherwise Obama/Democrats would be screwed in the polls.

So then if Iran or other actors cause some sort of revolution within Saudi Arabia, I wonder how the US would be involved..

At this point, the simple truth is that the Sunni/Shia divide is the only thing saving Western Civilization from being overrun by Islam.

We're being given a reprieve if we can just purge Western Civilization of its penchant for postmodernist and multicultural bovine scat and return to some sense of "cultural vigor" and have confidence that the Judaeo-Christian ideals refined during the enlightenment are indeed the superior ideology and stop allowing ourselves to be supplanted by inferior, regressive cultures like Islam (well lest be frank, its just Islam ... Buddhism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism ... none of these are imperious ideologies that require the forceful conversion of all peoples and the destruction of all other cultures/ideologies).

Its a race to see whether the postmodernist/multicultural/progressive idiots destroy Western Civilization from the inside before the Islamist and collectivists (and postmodernist/multicultural/progressive idiots) destroy if from the outside.

I think you've failed to consider who our current POTUS is. Sure, U.S. policy has long been to protect the House of Saud, but our exalted leader to tucked in bed nicely with Iran.

This Iran/Saudi thing is a Shiite versus Suuni thing. An Iranian educated Shiite stirred up some poop in Saudi & got slammed for it. This hasn't gone over well with the Iranians. Should this escalate to war between these two nation states, I think Israel is wise enough to stay out of it. The one thing Shiite's & Suuni's hate more than each other is a non-Muslim (particularly Israelites).

Now, while Saudi Arabia has strong U.S. support (training, equipment, etc.), we mustn't forget that Russia has cozied up quite nicely to Iran lately...something about oil. War in/with Iran would disrupt the flow of oil to Russia. They need that oil & won't sit still while the flow is disrupted. Methinks Iran would quickly be the recipient of some very effective missiles (assuming they aren't already).

This will all blow over with little to no hostilities.

Well, whatever happens will probably drive our gas prices back up. [facepalm]

The interesting thing here is that our current POTUS's entire life from Highschool to this now has been financed by the House of Saud ... this is why he all but fellated the King of Saud when he met him ... but he is also as you said "tucked in bed nicely with Iran" ... so he's going to be torn here and who knows how he'll side in the end (in the end I believe Valerie Jarrett works for the House of Saud ... and frankly she's our POTUS right now and has been since January of 09).

What we do know from "Dreams From My Father" is that he sees his life's work as working to complete his father's life's work (the destruction of the Colonialist west). So he has his pick of enemies of The West to fellate and tuck himself into bed with.

He won't take sides. He'll drag his feet, ride the fence, and hem-haw around to avoid the whole thing. Besides, shouldn't he be focused on the bigger picture? You know, stripping his constituents of their constitutional rights.

More proxy asymmetrical warfare using separate groups to injure the other side. The Saudi's will focus in economic warfare against the Mullahs and the Mullahs will continue trying to destabilize the Saudi royal family by bringing arab spring to the Kingdom.

I wouldn't be surprised if we never hear about the Israeli's working with the Saudi's to neutralize Iran's nuclear program. I have no hope that there will be any official assistance provided to any of our allies in the region. At least not till late January 2017.

Unlike the Hermit Kingdom, which is essentially the yappy but useful little dog of the the regime in Beijing, Tehran and Riyadh have enough independence to start and stop their own trouble making whenever they want to. For the foreseeable future, the US will continue to support the House of Saud, IMO.

ME, Asia, and Europe all directly destabilized by actions this administration has taken. Sub-Saharan Africa has been left alone.

You don't get these results in seven years unless you are trying. 70+ years of order and influence (in some places) has been erased in 1/10th of the time. China thinks they own Asia. Iran thinks they have been given the ME (nuke deal). An emerging Caliphate believes it will own Western Europe. Putin has demonstrated he can control Eastern Europe.
