Don't forget!
My hunting partner called me and I didn't know it was so close. I thought it opened in April. I figured there wasn't a thread on here so I still had time.
[emoji1303][emoji1303] thanks.
Almost did.
Thanks for the reminder, I'll be doing my applications online today. I hope to get licenses for elk, deer, pronghorn, bear and moose. I'm able to get 2 elk tags while saving preference points, but will use my 2 points for a buck pronghorn tag this year. Will take a different strategy on deer, trying for a later season in a trophy unit near the UT border. Also, this will be my 16th consecutive year applying for a Bullwinkle license. Maybe I'll get lucky and draw the Brainard Lake unit this year? HA! [fudd]

I'd appreciate a link. Still trying to learn this stuff.

Does anyone know if there is an animal harvest report available from last year in a form OTHER than the pdf provided on colorado parks and wildlife website? I have that one, but its just a large image and you cant search it or export to excel to manipulate it.
thanks!
Not harvest report, but here's a link to interactive maps where you can see migration and concentration of different species:
First pick a GMU, but once the map opens, you can move around the whole state - kinda like Google Earth/Maps
You have to click around on the "Map Layers and Legend" to show "Game Species" and then choose what you want to highlight.

Not sure what you mean by "it's just a large image and you can't search it". They have the different regions broke down in units with season, sex, total harvest, total hunters and success rate for last year, 3 year and 5 year. If this is not what you were referring to maybe you'll find it a little helpful

I have downloaded it and it is searchable in Adobe.
Thanks- this is the one I was referring to- it is searchable, you're correct. I was looking for one I could export or copy into excel to sort and compare the units easily. This one just copies into one huge cell, not very useful for data mining. I could go through line by line and enter it, but dont have the time (or patience) right now. thanks for the replies!
I went through the book tonight and outlined the hunt codes I plan to submit! I wish everyone good luck that they get what they want!
I've tried several times to apply online today and keep getting some sort of "you are not on file" error. Anyone else getting this? I've had a license for more than 20 years.....fxckin government. Effecient as ever.
I was going to apply tomorrow online. Hope they clear it up!
I was able to apply Sunday around 7PM with no issues.
Cool thanks. Points for me. Money for Kansas, turkey and deer.
Apps went in fine this morning. Woohoo!
My dad had that issue on his iPad. Did it on his laptop and worked fine. I got mine in a couple days ago on my iPad no problems
Just put in. Thanks again for the heads up. Probably taking a point for deer this year and we'll see what happens with elk.
whew, yep, just remembered and got my elk archery submitted. Thanks for the reminders everyone!
Filled mine out this afternoon, sent them $933.00.
Filled out mine today without issue.

Ugh, $720 later. :)
Thanks for the reminder. I always seem to forget every year until I see a thread reminding me.
You gotta start sometime. I'm currently at 10 points for moose, sheep, and goat. I have 7 for elk, 9 for bear, and 11 for deer. I used my antelope point last year. Remember that you have to have 3 points for moose before your even in the draw, so better start putting in.
My daughter's 12 but hasn't taken hunters safety yet. Can I start collecting points for her now, or do we have to have the class done first?
They have to be 12 before the start of the season that they are applying for.
To answer simply, Yes I'm collecting points and hunting every year. Obviously not for moose, sheep, or goat, but I hunt elk every year and deer every other year or two years. I use my antelope point every other year to go with a buddy down south. I apply for tags that are hard to draw with my first choice and then use my second choice to draw tags that I can draw with zero points. your second, third, and fourth choice don't use or accumulate any preference points.
I'm totally clueless about this whole "points" thing. Almost like they don't want anybody to hunt here, it sure ain't easy.
Everyone wants to hunt here and that's why they have the point system. if you truly want to get a better understanding of the points system feel free to pm me your contact info, and I would be more than happy to help you learn and understand the whole preference point system. But in a nut shell in a given unit the tags are given to the person or persons with the most points. Every year that you are unsuccessful you are awarded another point and in turn moving you closer to the top of the list. The system is a little different for sheep, moose, and goat. Here is a link that will better explain the system http://huntplannerapp.com/blog/color...ts-demystified
Don't forget you will need your kids Social Security Number to apply. While at home not a big deal, if you are out and want to buy a small game or turkey license it can be a pain. When you apply online the system will generate a CID number, keep it with you so you can buy a license. The division may not be able to help you locate it over the phone. F---- Federal Government!!
