GLENDALE - On March 28, a rifle and over 200 rounds of 223/5.56 ammunition were stolen from a party at an apartment in the City of Glendale.
According to Glendale Police, the rifle is a Knight's Armament Rifle with a serial number of # KM909090. It was allegedly fitted with a Trijicon ACOG optical sight.

It is not clear where the rifle was located or if it was secured.
Police have issued a BOLO, or "be on the lookout," on this weapon as it poses a public safety threat.
The rifle was stolen from a party in the 4500 block of Cherry Creek Drive South that was mainly attended by Denver East High School students.
9NEWS left messages with the Glendale investigators Monday morning seeking more information. Denver Public Schools told 9NEWS they are looking into the crime alert.
Anyone with information related to the theft and recovery of the weapon is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Texts can also be sen to 274637, then title DMCS and enter a tip.
Tipsters can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

I don't disagree that a rifle and ammo in the hands of dumbass high school kids is likely more dangerous than a career thief.

But the weapon itself does not pose a public safety threat. Maybe I am being too literal.

You aren't. I generally agree, just thinking out loud that a high school kid is the last person I'd want to end up with pretty much anything I own.

And of course, it's black. So we are supposed to BOLO/profile black rifles and check their serial?

As if FDE cerakote rifles never do anything wrong...

I'm going to have to agree with Stu on this one.

If you take the BOLO comment alone and at face value, it is totally ridiculous and follows the typical "guns are spooky" anti-gun narrative. If you couple the comment with the fact that the firearm is now in the hands of a hormonally irrational high school student (but then, I repeat myself) who is willing to steal a firearm, then, together, this poses a potentially serious public safety threat. I think any kid willing to steal a gun is of an increased mentality to illegally/violently use said gun.

This even made the news in Springs. Absolutely ridiculous!

I'd bet that rifle's already been traded for drugs.....
