POS Stryker MGS
I guess that explains the duct tape on the barrel. Thanks.
It's a snow cone maker. Wait, it's an espresso machine.
Nice True Lies reference.
Not just this model, in general the strykers were lampooned. Were just hitting the "Market" early iraq 2 like 2004/2005? Basically way too fragile to ied/rpg. You later saw them festooned in the chicken wire lattice armor to try and make the rpg's detonate early?
Stuff like the MGS also had it's own problems but I forget what. Think it was like too light of caliber for true battletanks so it was more useful for light armor/buildings? Seemed like it had issues with too much recoil messing with it?
Pretty sure they "fixed" the problems with the MGS, but it's still a Stryker with a tank cannon on it. A T-72 would eat that thing for lunch, freeze the rest, and have that as a late night snack.
I saw one broke down on Highway 50 beginning of Jade Helm.
One of the problems was that when they fired the gun over the side of the vehicle, it will tip over. Not a good thing to happen! That was fixed but I am still not a fan of the system. Other than the MGS, they are armed with MK-19s and .50 cals. Not much fire power unless you are only fighting light infantry and even then it can be problematic.
Back in the day (1990s Army) the MGS was a system needed by light infantry to help breach walls and sometimes (last resort) protect against armor until actual tanks can reinforce. We have a tendency to over estimate the combat power of the Stryker (just ask my students) and place them in situations where they will get smoked by tanks.
if you want to understand how it came to be just watch Pentagon wars same thing different vehicle
I was at Knox in 03 and we had to set up like 25 of them in different configs for some press BS. Ah the good ol days.
What?! I love the Bradley and it's 25 OG style, or should I say ODS style..... But I'm a bit biased as well. I'd take a brad over that POS Stryker any day. Dumbest thing ever: switching the only ACR over to a fucking Stryker "regiment." Stryker should be good enough for airborne and that's about it.
