No, but I'm very interested in trying it out. Any info on renting a board or good places to learn? I know there were a bunch of folks paddling out at Palmer lake awhile back when I passed by. There is a shop across from the melting pot in Littleton, maybe I should go check them out.
My little brother raves about them. We bought sit on top kayaks instead. Looking forward to trying out Grand Lake since we have a cabin up there. Paddle boards seem to move pretty good as well. Was that your experience?
Wife goes a few times a week. With a friend doing a little fishing as well.

My wife and I have been SUP (Stand up paddelboarding) for about 4 years now!
We have inflatable boards, they are way easy to transport.

For those in Northern Colorado the City Lake in Windsor rents SUP boards for $5 for a half hour, $10 per hour. When we went at the end of last season it was dead and the high school kids running it weren't too picky on time restrictions. We ended up going for like 1.5hrs and paid only the $5 charge. That's the cheapest I've found and it was a good time. They had a wide array of sizes too and I can tell you that the smaller the more challenging it is for beginners and it makes a pretty big difference. First time I ever tried SUP was in a bay in Maui and I got my ass kicked even though I swam way out where the waves were 'smaller' because it was still shaky. The lake on Windsor is relatively smooth and much smoother than the ocean so if you're new it's the best bet for learning how to stand. Get a larger board and it will make it even easier to learn how to balance as this is critical for SUP boarding. It's a fun time though and I can't wait to get back as they're already open for the season and we haven't yet been.
I have the balance of a baby giraffe so it's taking some getting used to I can't stand up and paddle yet but can cruise along quite well on my knees boat wakes are scary but am wearing a life jacket at all times
I like soda lake near Morrison no boats allowed so no wakes.
shadow lake near granby has a picnic Area that doesn't allow boats and it was fun there this weekend

Barr lake is all a no wake zone, but no rentals. I'd like to try one some time.
The GF keeps wanting to 'learn' which means she wants me to buy everything so she can decide she doesn't like it.

You can rent them for $20 per hour or so at Chatfield (swim beach or gravel ponds) any day but Monday or at Soda Lakes any day. The are fun for a while, but I would get bored with them if my kids and wife weren't with me to goof around and use the as a floating diving platform.Quote:
